OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME
Unitaid is a multilateral partnership hosted by the World Health Organization. Unitaid is focused on making a unique and impactful contribution to the global response against HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria in developing countries. It catalyses improvements for the larger response through forward-looking and time-limited investments that are designed to increase access to better, more effective and more affordable health products (i.e. preventatives, medicines and diagnostics). These investments typically target market-based interventions such as price reductions, improvements in quality and supply, and the introduction of innovative products more suitable for the populations in need.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
Supports the Executive Director in the effective leadership and day-to-day operational management of the Unitaid Secretariat, participating as a member of the SMT and supporting efficient management of resources. Oversees effective tracking and reporting of Unitaid activities against organizational plans, priorities, and key metrics (e.g. Unitaid Board mandates and Key Performance Indicators). Ensures effective management of organizational information, knowledge, risk and quality. Supports the design and implementation of organizational culture and staff engagement activities. As needed, represents the Executive Director in high-level meetings and high-profile public events. Acts for and executes the authority of the Executive Director in her/his absence. Undertakes other assignments as assigned by the Executive Director.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Essential: Advanced University degree in business, management, international development, public health, public administration, social/medical science or equivalent.
Desirable: Professional certifications or equivalents associated with global public health/development, such as behavior change, communication, epidemiology.
Experience
Essential: At least 15 years of progressive management experience, including at senior level. Extensive experience coordinating the work of cross-functional and multi-cultural teams. Demonstrated experience leading partner engagement at a senior level. At least five years of management experience at the international level.
Desirable: Experience in managing teams in a variety of public health-related environments, ideally in the context of multi-partner programmes. Experience in performance-based monitoring and evaluation of projects and organizational risk management. Experience working with senior level staff/colleagues in an environment that is politically sensitive and highly visible. Experience working in development and global health. Experience living in and supporting the public health/development needs of people and communities in low and middle-income countries.

REMUNERATION
WHO salaries for staff in the Professional category are calculated in US dollars. The remuneration for the above position comprises an annual base salary starting at USD 102,715 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable), a variable post adjustment, which reflects the cost of living in a particular duty station, and currently amounts to USD 7618 per month for the duty station indicated above. Other benefits include 30 days of annual leave, allowances for dependent family members, home leave, and an education grant for dependent children.
