In this role you will determine Wingtra’s regulatory and airworthiness strategy, implementing a proactive strategy to ensure our products comply with the wide range of evolving global rules and regulations.You will report to and work closely with our CTO, our customers and our development and production teams, and will liaise with global aviation regulators. You will be responsible for a wide range of regulatory activities.
Responsibilities
End to end ownership for ensuring that our company, as well as our products remain compliant with all applicable aviation and airworthiness regulations. This includes regulations related to development, production and operation of unmanned aircraft systems.
Because you like challenging the status quo, you are able to facilitate the implementation of regulatory requirements in an agile and fast-paced startup environment.
Stay on top of current and future regulatory requirements and associated challenges and actively participate in shaping upcoming regulations representing our industry. This will include stakeholder management within and outside of the company, as well with regulatory bodies.
Plan, coordinate and lead airworthiness related activities including cross-team coordination with Wingtra’s Production, Development and Testing teams.
Act as an advisor for team members in all questions related to airworthiness and certification, especially in topics related to software and hardware development.
Requirements
University Degree in Aeronautical, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
3+ years of relevant working experience in the aviation industry.
Proven experience dealing with certification authorities such as EASA or FAA.
Ability to develop regulatory strategies at company-level, and advise the company management in making corresponding strategic decisions.
Eager to work in a dynamic environment: you are able to identify ways of combining agile ways of working with the need to work in a regulated industry.
Supportive mindset for continuous feedback and growth.
Outstanding communication and storytelling skills in English.
Plus
In depth knowledge of the design procedures, especially the procedures relevant to compliance demonstration, certification and continued airworthiness process (e.g. Part 21).
Experience applying specific airworthiness regulations for drones.
Understanding or previous experience in aerospace software and hardware development standards (DO-178, DO-254).
