Description


The marketing and communications manager supports the business strategy of the two Swiss offices from a marketing and communications perspective while ensuring coherence with the Firm's overall strategy. They make use of the entire marketing mix and conduct all business development activities with communicative expertise.


The role is an integral part of the Firm's BDMC team, focusing on business development, marketing and communications activities that strengthen the Firm's profile in the market. In Switzerland, the job holder works in a small team of three people, while being in continuous contact with colleagues within the region and worldwide.


Location
The main place of employment may be either Geneva or Zurich with frequent visits to the other Swiss office.

Responsibilities


Marketing



  • Update and adopt the Firm's promotional templates (capability statements and pitch documents) for local needs.

  • Develop and maintain all marketing collateral, incl. brochures, client alerts, sales presentations and digital content.

  • Update and maintain the Swiss website, incl. frequent updates of all the lawyers' profiles.

  • Develop and run — together with internal stakeholders — effective marketing campaigns that deliver the Firm's key messages, USPs and brand collateral to target channels and industry sectors in line with the overall sales strategy, including developing internal and external messaging, rollout and evaluation.

  • Work with lawyers, the EMEA BDMC team, industry and practice groups, the events team and others to develop, organize, coordinate and execute seminars, receptions and special events taking place in the local market; review effectiveness and analyze return on investment.

  • Evaluate key sponsorship and networking opportunities with professional organizations and associations in the local market.

  • Coordinate all deliverables associated with offices' identified key sponsorship's.

  • Enhance visibility of the Firm's brand in the local market.

  • Ensure that the global corporate design is implemented correctly in the two Swiss offices.

  • Develop and run internal events and execute internal promotional activities.

 Communications

  • Effectively communicate business successes (incl. deal announcements, lateral hires, promotions, etc.) in the market.

  • Prepare key messages for media inquiries, frequently update the overall communication house, maintain relationships with key media and support and prepare spokespersons.

  • Take ownership for all of Baker McKenzie's Swiss social media channels by ensuring regular updates, content development, social media campaigns, etc.

  • Co-ordinate, produce and deliver client-facing newsletters in close collaboration with industry and practice groups.

  • Draft internal communication and support internal projects with an effective communications strategy.

  • Establish the Swiss intranet as the main internal communications channel by publishing daily news and frequently updating all general sections and subpages.


Experience Required


Qualifications



  • At least a bachelor's degree is required, preferably in business administration majoring in marketing and communications or a related field.

  • Further education or additional training in marketing or communications is desired.


 Experience



  • At least three years' related professional experience in a similar role is required, preferably within the legal industry or in a professional services environment within large and dynamic organizations with exposure to high-level professionals and senior executives.


Personal and technical skills



  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English; oral and written communication skills in either German or French are also mandatory.

  • Experience with integrated communications and knowledge of the marketing mix.

  • High dedication to and knowledge about digital topics (especially social media), including experience in digital marketing and communication.

  • Very strong technical skills, including but not limited to MS Office products, Adobe Creative Suite, SharePoint and CRM solutions.

  • Ability to develop unusual ideas and concepts; ambition, acumen and flair for producing creative excellence paired with a high degree of attention to detail.

  • Go-getter type, highly self-motivated, a team player and independent worker in one.

  • Creative mastermind with passion for design, that can reliably tracking down new trends with a knack for implementing them in day-to-day work.

  • Ability to effectively coordinate competing priorities.

  • Strong judgment and ability to suggest well-reasoned independent recommendations and ideas.

  • Strategic awareness of business and commercial issues.

  • Comfortable working across multiple cultures and time zones in a matrix organization.

  • High level of energy and persistence.
