As a DataOps Engineer at Smallpdf, you are responsible for improving and maintaining our analytics backend as well as the AWS infrastructure behind our product.

We run a 50 node Redshift cluster fed by Kinesis Firehose. It stores billions of events used to drive our decisions. Your primary job will be to run operations around the cluster and data pipelines to ensure the highest availability and performance.

Responsibilities

• Manage and automate our infrastructure spanning hundreds of instances


• Maintain and improve our analytics backend (Redshift/Kinesis)


• Collaborate with and support our Data Team


• Designing and implementing log analytics solution


• Boost engineering productivity by writing and maintaining developer tooling


• Improving monitoring and observability of our platform

Requirements

• AWS experience, especially database and data processing services


• Work independently and take responsibility and ownership of your work


• 3+ years of DevOps experience


• Previous experience with Redshift or similar


• Experience with data streaming solutions (e.g., Kinesis)


• Experience with ETL and OLAP workloads


• Ability to learn new technologies quickly


• Terraform and/or Ansible experience is a nice plus


• Jenkins experience is also a nice plus


• Based in Zurich or willing to relocate, this is an on-site role


• AWS Data Analytics Specialty certification is a plus
