Job Description:


Caterpillar are excited to launch this search for our Global Market Manager for our Earthmoving Products.


A key role that manages the specific Earthmoving Product Group business for all World Wide markets. This position is accountable for the enterprise financial results, market share, velocity and quality of the product line. Key job purpose is working with internal sales and marketing teams across different business units to connect customers unmet needs with current and future solutions (product, services, aftermarket), you'll bring expertise and experience to the role across these areas.
 


JOB DUTIES:



  • Travel with the Sales Reps to discover customer problems that currently are not being addressed and that solutions need to be created for.  Work with PMC and PAS to ensure critical information is at point of sale for current solutions.

  • Develop strategy and goals to achieve the growth targets in Region with specific problems to solve for the Leadership Tables.

  • Machine Allocation – determining where machines will be delivered to support business requirements and profitability.

  • Business planning – Working with Core Industries and within our team to establish budget and business targets such as sales variance spend, market share, capacity discussion for demand etc…this covers near term and long term goals several years out.  Lead global and regional S&OP process for the product group.  Manage pipeline and mining commercial related items, where applicable.

  • Stop ships – In the event of quality issues will stop the shipment and or production of products from the factory to allow time to address the issue at hand. This also includes the stop shipment at the PDC’s (product distribution centers where products land to be delivered for sale).

  • NPI (New Product Introduction) and NMI (New Market Introduction) readiness within region or from the plant – Establish and manage a plan for the phase of old product and the phase in of a new series. This involves on time NPI production at the facility and the management of PDC inventory of selling the old machines, making sure proper parts stocking is in place for the new product within region and supporting the various successful completion of the gate reviews.

  • Product quality resolution – Work with engineering teams to address product issues and release and manage warranty programs to fix these machines in the field, PDC and in production.  Interim resolution for regional field follow, service engineering & level 1 issues.  Rapid identification of product problems in the field.

  • Team leadership – This is a daily activity of coordinating, coaching, allocation resources, etc… for the various teams I work with both direct reports and team members with dotted line accountability.


Typical internal customers include various contacts in a portion of Caterpillar worldwide operations. External contacts include various customers and vendors throughout worldwide markets. This position sets policy and guidelines for attaining quality and business performance goals. Often confronts complex issues or problems that require careful analysis and diagnosis. Problems are often unique and solutions can require original approaches.


You may be called upon to modify existing approaches or develop new solutions. Establishes and then monitors general policies and guidelines for projects under his/her control to ensure specific, management goals are met and desired results are achieved.


BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE:



  • The position requires strong business skills and broad exposure to earthmoving products as well as commercial and dealer facing experience, with a strong ability to influence and solidify strong business relationships with distributors, dealers and customers.

  • The position typically requires a college or university degree or equivalent experience. In addition, at least fifteen years of progressively responsible job-related experience are typically required.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills are required in order to deal with sensitive issues, develop others, or persuade others inside and outside the department to take specific actions.

  • Must have excellent human relations and communications skills and diplomacy with peers and subordinates
