Role Purpose



  • As the Roche Consulting Chapter Lead, you will be a member of the Diagnostics Solutions Marketing and Customer Insights Leadership Team  (MCI LT).


  • In this position, you will be the leading figure and key point of contact for Roche Diagnostics’ capabilities in Roche Consulting. You will improve the chapter’s overarching expertise based on current and upcoming needs to deliver on network priorities (e.g. upcoming portfolio investments with new technology skills needed). 


  • You will be responsible to excel in developing the capabilities of Chapter members specialized in Roche Consulting including their skills in customer centricity and solution design thinking.  As a line manager of Chapter members, you will be responsible for designing and optimizing Chapter members’ personal professional journey, coaching your direct reports, and liaising with the other Chapter Leaders. 


  • You will partner primarily with the Function Head and Network Leads within Marketing & Customer Insights across all the customer and disease areas and regions/affiliates These interactions are intended to support bringing the right capabilities and expertise to the efforts & squads to deliver across Networks’ priorities (who organize around business value). You will play a key role in crafting and implementing key aspects of Marketing & Customer Insights’s mid- to long-term strategy and ultimately contribute to the overall Roche Diagnostics Vision.



You will be responsible to...



  • Ensure that Roche Diagnostics’ capabilities in Roche Consulting thrive:


  • Leverage a consolidated view of the Chapter’s capabilities to represent the most senior level of specialized expertise towards Business and other Functions


  • Define the short and long term capability needs for the Chapter to deliver on the Function’s and Network’s strategy, and execute on it, ultimately advancing the Function’s expertise and helping our Customer Areas and LCT’s to achieve their business objectives


  • Establish and further develop best practices and thought leadership for all aspects pertaining to Roche Consulting; exemplify the principle of proactive and continuous improvement


  • Maintain and develop all assets and partnerships related to Marketing & Customer Insights that are owned by Roche Diagnostics.


  • Promote fluidity of Chapter members’ capabilities (as needed) to easily support different business needs across Networks


  • Lead the Chapter Area to partner with and consult affiliates across a variety of areas including Roche Healthcare Consulting and Lab visualization and Design to design solutions and present these solutions according to customers` needs in the lab and beyond the lab.


  • Lead the Chapter Area to partner with and consult affiliates to sell a combination of products and services


  • Lead the Chapter Area to partner with and consult affiliates to develop innovative and new commercial business models and commercial partnerships across all Customer Areas and Business Areas to accelerate our goal of realizing the Diagnostics Divisional Strategy


  • Be an active coach and mentor to members of the Chapter to help them grow and progress in their career


  • Nurture and develop an empowered, knowledgeable, effective and efficient group of subject matter experts (SMEs) within the Chapter with the capabilities to support Roche Diagnostics’ efforts with best-in-class expertise


  • Ensure that personal professional development is a priority in assignments of Chapter members and spread awareness for this


  • Design and promote personal professional journey paths within the Chapter, enabling the fluidity of resources intended by our New Ways of Working



Support access to the right resources



  • Work closely with Network Leads, Functional Partners, LCTs and regions/affiliatesto identify and translate strategic direction to capability needs 


  • Support Network Leads within Marketing & Customer Insights to allocate the right resources to the right efforts, e.g. either to support squad staffing or provide functional expertise to support decision making in Decision Making bodies (eg. LCT`s- or Customer Area-level)



Enabling the organization’s New Ways of Working



  • Act as Role-model for Agile Leadership behaviors, as well as for our culture, mindset & behaviors as defined in We@RocheDiagnostics


  • Model behaviors to support the organization’s transformation to new, more Agile Ways of Working – e.g. new decision making/governance practices, collaboration, translating common goals into 90 day action plans / OKR, etc



As the Chapter Lead you:

What else do you have in your toolbox: 



  • High degree of subject matter expertise:



    • Advanced degree in science, engineering, business or a related field. Experience or background in customer exposure is a plus.


    • 10+ years of experience in the diagnostics industry or a related field in business related functions


    • Deep / broad knowledge and understanding complexity of our customers` environment and ability to identify opportunities and pursue these opportunities by simplifying and focusing our organization to deliver meaningful and value adding solutions for customers. 


    • Proves deep knowledge and thought leadership on all aspects relevant to Roche Consulting


    • Demonstrates courage, vision and drive to be at the forefront of innovative change


    • Strong track record of building and nurturing capabilities such as customer centricity, solution oriented mindset bringing tangible outcomes for customers,  and achieving results with new business model implementation



  • Leadership and people development:



    • Proven  ability to lead with creative attitude, very high self-awareness and being a coach and a mentor to other leaders and partners


    • Demonstrates the ability to build networks and can inspire to work agile 


    • Empathy towards the needs of Squads and others Chapters combined with skill of prioritizing resource involvement



  • Demonstrated success in establishing a high performing environment with an excellent reputation attracting the best talent, developing and inspiring them


  • Experience defining career progression and development capabilities consulting across multiple customer areas in networked organization


  •  Senior management skills



    • Previous experience in managing areas relevant to Roche Consulting


    • Able to foster positive partnerships through effective influencing, negotiation and conflict management skills


    • Ability to navigate within an organization with evolving needs, maintaining objectivity, respect for differences of opinion, fairness, open communication and consensus building skills

You can be based in Pleasanton, Rotkreuz (preferred) or Santa Clara


At the Company's discretion, an exception to the location requirement could be made under extraordinary circumstances.  


As this position is a global role, international business travel will be required depending upon the business location of the successful candidate and ongoing business project activities.
