Ever since the foundation in 1947, La Garenne International School has been one of the leading
boarding schools in Switzerland and the world.More than 1 20 students fro m over 35 nations are
welcomed each year on our campus located in the charming French-speaking alpine ski resort of
Villars which provides a secure environment and an extraordinary education to boarding and day
students from 5 years old.Our philosophy is based on providing individual attention to each and

La Garenne prides itself on its long and rich history as a bilingual place of learning.While the main
language of academic sub jects is English,we believe that language learning is vitally important and
students are encouraged to develop a mastery of the French Language in addition to encouraging
the study of a student's native language.In the Primary School (ages 5-10 ),students follow the
International Primary Curriculum,which prepares them well to enter the Secondary School where
they will study the highly regarded International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (ages 11 -
1 6).Upon completion of the MYP our students will start their studies for the world renowned IB
Diploma Programme.Our students will enter their final year of schooling in 2022, just in time to
celebrate the 75th anniversary of La Garenne.
Job Description
We are looking for an English teacher who is enthusiastic about teaching to students across the
Secondary age ranges and who is motivated to develop themselves as a teacher and embraces
forward thinking pedagogical practice.Ability to teach English B to IB Diploma level and English
literature and language ac quisition (as required) to Middle School would confer an advantage.
Main Duties
● Teach across the age and ability-range, adapting lessons to the needs of each individual.
● Contribute to wider school life through participation in sporting events,ECAs and other
enrichment activities.
● Seek to develop your own professional practice and development
● Be responsible for mentoring a small group of learners and monitoring their achievements
and well-being.
● Clear commitment to the safeguarding of all young people.
● Completing any subject related administration as needed and participating in department
meetings.
● Follow the school ’s assessment and reporting processes and attend parents’ meetings as
required

You will be an educator who is dedicated to continual improvement and embodies the attributes of

● Has a good honours degree and/or a further degree in a directly-related subject.
● Embraces a commitment to working within the principles of equality,diversity and
inclusion.
● Is passionate about their subject and has the ability to enthuse others.
● Embraces developments and innovations in teaching and learning and is willing to
experiment with new practices.
● Is willing to act as a supervisor to learners completing the MYP Personal Project or the DP
Extended Essay as needed.
● Has excellent written and verbal communication skills.
● Shares the educational vision of La Garenne International School including our holistic
vision of education and is excited to contribute to the co-curricular and pastoral aspects of
life at the school.
● Has strong interpersonal skills and can build relationships and collaborate with colleagues
and school leadership.
