Within the Ingredients Research group of Givaudan’s Fragrance Division based in Kemptthal/Zurich, you will lead and develop the investigation towards new sustainable processes for fragrance ingredients using your skills and expertise in synthetic biology and/or biocatalysis and/or fermentation.

Your role is to ensure that fragrance ingredients benefit from the best and most sustainable production processes conceivable. You will work with multiple research and development teams within Givaudan and with external partners and report directly to the Head of Ingredient Research.

You will:

• Develop ideas, concepts and strategical targets that support the Givaudan purpose and the sustainability goals


• Transform ideas into new projects


• Provide expert biotechnology advice and communicate acquired knowledge to technical staff and leadership


• Collaborate and manage projects with external partners


• Work with an interdisciplinary environment: biotechnology, organic chemistry and analytical chemistry laboratories

You have:

• A PhD in biotechnology, with the required experience in fields such as: synthetic biology, biocatalysis, microbiology and biochemistry, molecular biology


• 5+ years of experience on the job – with an industrial background in scale-up of biotechnological / biocatalytic processes


• Experience in metabolic engineering / synthetic biology is mandatory


• Experience in project and collaboration management – with experience leading projects with multinational partners


• Demonstrated management and strategic planning skills in collaboration with partners


• Curious and creative, enthusiastic for interdisciplinary research beyond your field


• Open, constructive, flexible, and reliable


• A very good command of English is mandatory; fluency in German or French is an advantage


• Experience in the Fragrance, Flavour and / or Cosmetic industry is an advantage
