About the role



As Lead Reinsurance Strategy you will work with stakeholders across Swiss Re to help shape and define the future strategic direction of the Reinsurance Business Unit. Apply structured thinking to a multitude of data sources including internal financial data, market intelligence, and qualitative stakeholder inputs to support decision making. Lead, manage and develop the Reinsurance Strategy team.


 


The role holder will lead the development and execution of key strategic projects for the Reinsurance Business Unit. This position is crucial to the business’s ability to establish its short, medium, and long-term plans.


 


Key responsibilities:


 


 



  • Support the Reinsurance CEO, COO, Reinsurance Management Team and Head of Reinsurance Strategy and CEO Office in defining the Business Unit's strategic priorities and turning them into actionable plans

  • Play a key role in executing BU Reinsurance's strategy on various key strategic projects across lines of business and products; act as a center of excellence and sparring partner to the steering boards

  • Lead and strengthen Swiss Re's business intelligence and market trend analysis/insights to enable sound decision making. Synthesize fragmented information sources such as competitor disclosures, internal performance reports, market reports, etc. in order to develop strategic options for senior management consideration.

  • Pro-actively update senior management on new trends / development in the industry (incl. tech related) and propose and defend new strategic initiatives; collaborating with internal /external experts and stakeholders across Swiss Re Group.

  • Support the strategic planning process by highlighting existing and emerging business challenges, making certain that these issues are thoughtfully addressed by the laid out plans.

  • Manage the Reinsurance Strategy team; support professional development of all team members and ensure projects managed by team are delivered to a very high standard

  • Lead storyline development and oversee the creation of high quality presentations and analysis for senior Reinsurance leaders, management meetings and external communication (e.g. Rating Agency meetings and Investor Days).

  • Work across Reinsurance and Group to ensure alignment of BU and Group strategy.

Professional Qualities:


 


 



  • Extensive (re)insurance industry, client and insurance technology knowledge with significant experience dealing with executive management / boards of directors

  • Substantial exposure to strategy management, with direct exposure to senior leadership teams driving strategy formulation and decision making

  • Outstanding analytical skills, an ability to translate raw information into measurable strategies and initiatives. Able to demonstrate ability to conduct a variety of analyses such as performance analyses, competitive analyses, market analyses, etc.

  • Consistent track record of building productive and collaborative working relationships with partners on senior management level with experience of delivering improvement in execution within operational environments

  • Experience working in and leading divers / multicultural teams

  • Proficiency in the English language, with additional languages being a valued asset

  • Might include some travel
