Job Description

Your Team 

Avaloq Insight platform is an Inhouse Big Data platform built using a set of widely adopted big data open source technologies. The aim of the platform is to provide simplified access to high volume data to solve complex financial problem using ML/AI. The platform is also used to gather meaningful insights from the high-volume financial data.

Duration: 6 months
Start: 02/2021

Your mission 

• Performance bottlenecks in latency and throughput


• Sizing requirement for different components based on different loads


• Query performance and optimisation of massively parallel processing database components


• Autoscaling strategies for different type of compute workloads


• Metrics and DevOps Dashboards for Benchmarking


• Cost of running the platform

Qualifications

What you need 

• Master Student (e.g. in Computer Science) from ETH or similar Tech. university


• Strong technical hands-on engineering background


• Fluent in English (both written and verbal)


• Strong analytical skills


• Good knowledge of distributed systems


• An understanding of Massively Parallel Processing SQL engines 

You will get extra points for the following  

• Understanding of programing language Java, Python and performance optimization of JVM’s


• Knowledge in the area of Performance Benchmarking 


• Understanding of Kubernetes, Docker, Prometheus and Grafana
