Position Summary

As Gastrointestinal Health department manager, you will manage three groups of R&D specialists and experts, Host microbe interaction, Gut physiology and Immunology, and lead the scientific and translational activities of the Department. You will direct research as well as develop and manage relevant competences and resources (over 35 people). You will direct the translation of scientific discoveries into nutritional concepts and prototypes thanks to strong partnerships with the Nestlé businesses.

A day in the life of a Department Manager Gastrointestinal Health

  • Contribute to the definition and execution of the Institute of Health Science’s strategy and priorities

  • Lead the Gastrointestinal Health Department and engage with other units of the Nestlé R&D organization in alignment with consumer and business needs

  • Drive initiatives and innovative projects/ideas in the area of improving health through nutrition

  • Create strategic alliances and collaborations; Maintain effective external networks; Secure access to top talents and expertise

  • Lead, coach and develop teams of people and integrate the different competences within the Department to maximize synergies, impact and contribution

  • Ensure guardianship and dissemination of knowledge in line with the latest innovations in academia and industry

What will make you successful

  • PhD with expertise in gastrointestinal physiology, gut microbiome or related domains with international scientific recognition. Knowledge in Immunology would be a plus

  • At least 15 years of experience in R&D

  • Proven records in developing and executing scientific strategies that can be translated into innovative business applications would be a great asset

  • Experience in leading, coaching and developing people

  • Excellent written and oral skills in English
