The Functional Genomics Center Zurich (FGCZ) is an interdisciplinary research and training center of the University of Zurich and the ETH Zurich and the largest technology platform for omics research in Switzerland. We operate latest high-end instruments to rapidly sequence genomes and analyze biological samples down to single molecule resolution. In collaboration with the life science research groups of ETH Zurich and University of Zurich, we work on scientific problems ranging from basic research to precision medicine.


Project background


B-Fabric - an innovative system developed by the FGCZ using Jakarta EE, PrimeFaces, PostgreSQL and other latest open source technologies - manages our large-scale data collection and data processing. It serves a community of more than 7000 national and international users from 600 academic institutes and 200 companies.


Job description


The position's responsibility focuses on the implementation, maintenance, and support of new and existing B-Fabric functionality. The position involves a close collaboration with wet lab and bioinformatics experts with respect to use-case analysis and feature specification in a highly competitive and dynamic research environment.


Full-time position, starting immediately or upon agreement. Working place is the Functional Genomics Center Zurich, which is located at the Irchel Campus of the University of Zurich.


Your profile


The ideal candidate has a university degree in computer science with programming skills in Java. We expect basic knowledge in SQL databases and JSF. Knowledge in Jakarta EE, PostgreSQL, PrimeFaces, and GlassFish are highly appreciated.


The position requires the ability to work independently as well as team-oriented.


Knowledge of English is mandatory.
