Your talents are needed to help the Public Affairs team in Basel to engage with European countries, with ONE voice, to influence external policies and the political environment to enable Novartis to re-imagine medicine!
As a Director Public Affairs, Region Europe you will be working with European country affiliates on the policy shaping initiatives and capability building projects.
You will develop and execute Public Affairs strategies on selected topics to support business goals and policy objectives.
Your remit will be:
•Shape external environment to address short term business risks and opportunities and position NVS successfully mid/long-term.
•Position Novartis as a trusted partner and build strong stakeholder relationships. -Depending on size of responsibility, lead and develop a small team
•Deliver political intelligence and advice to relevant Novartis businesses
•Identify key public affairs priorities in alignment with business leaders and contribute to the creation and implement relevant public affairs positions, tools and data •In coordination with regions, build a strong strategy and lead execution of advocacy on high priority topics, including representation in key associations -
•Design / execute product advocacy where applicable -Leadership by managing talent for the assigned area -Provide political analysis of trends in respective area and impact on Novartis, advise senior management on public affairs and regional issues -Role model the Novartis culture
•Be a strategic fit and align with regional and country political agenda with overall business strategy, depending on assigned area, also able to influence on associations/country agenda in assigned area -alignment with NVS policy -Proximity and relevance to assigned business / area -Recognized contribution to product launches -Quality of PA competencies in the assigned area
•Engage with European countries and institutions on shaping the public affairs landscape as you will work closely with selected countries /institutions in Europe on Public Affairs, depending on PA priorities
•Execute capability and community building initiatives - Lead PA activities in selected cross-functional regional launch teams for strategic and new therapies and provide strategic and expert public affairs advice to facilitate launch and early launch activities -
•Identify specific PA tasks/focus for selected products, and in collaboration with Global Brand PA, Business policy experts, regional launch teams and cluster PA, develop and adapt material and plans to support PA activities in market -
•Elevate content knowledge of country PA on best practice activities and create materials to be used in educating key decision-makers on value of innovative medicines in collaboration with Country PA and policy experts, design and execute specific projects in relevant countries. •Implement mechanisms to measure the impact of environment shaping projects
Minimum requirements
•University degree in Economics, Political Sciences, Public Health, Law, Management or related field.
•Relevant post-graduate academic/policy studies is a plus •10 years + in pharmaceutical industry, or similar, with solid country cooperation (local or regional), healthcare system and product launch experience
•Fluency in English both verbally and in written is a must. •Other European languages a plus
