We are looking for a remarkable Scientist - NMR Spectroscopy to join DSM Nutritional Products in Kaiseraugst, Switzerland.
The Challenge
We are looking for a highly motivated Scientist with a solid knowledge in NMR Spectroscopy to join our R&D global team at our site in Kaiseraugst. The successful candidate will work in a very dynamic and inter-disciplinary department, closely together with other scientists and with internal key functions like innovation project managers, regulatory, quality, manufacturing and IP for all the different industries. The offered position is a full-time assignment, with an ideal starting date from July 2021.
The Position
• Design, plan and execute laboratory experiments that contribute to assigned projects applying state of the art scientific knowledge and best practices.
• Provide technical NMR Spectroscopy expertise and act as a subject matter expert across our project portfolio.
• Characterize samples and elucidate structures using liquid state NMR Spectroscopy, specifically for small molecules from chemical synthesis and production.
• Bring in experience in analytical chemistry and data science. Drive data capture, storage and analysis using FAIR data principles in the centre.
• Develop the NMR expertise including automation, application, and datasets interpretation for the support of innovation projects.
• Report and present the results to our customers and at external conferences.
The Ideal
• PhD in Analytical-, Physical or Organic Chemistry with a minimum experience in a R&D position in life-science industry is required
• Excellent knowledge and experience including Instrument Operation with 1D, 2D-NMR on Bruker Instruments. Experience with spectrometer trouble-shooting and automatic sample changer
• Experience with structural identification of small molecules
• Experience with characterization of complex mixtures
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, reporting and presentation skills
• Open-minded personality and ability to evolve in a cross-functional and multinational environment
• Strong team player with strong communication skills in a R&D organization
• Proficient command of English; German is a plus
