The role


Similar to a Senior Solution Sales Specialist, this person will provide support during the generation of sales leads, enablement of sales people, pre-sales engagements with prospects and generating new ideas e.g., as a technical evangelist for marketing activities, including speaking/presenter engagements at conferences, conventions, user groups, webinars, etc.


 


Usually, they take responsibility for business opportunities that have already been qualified by Customer Business Development Managers. Together, they work to identify the customer's actual goals and needs as well as decision structures, preferences regarding time and budget, as well as the competitive situation.  As the Technical Evangelist for ONEImpact, they will also work in some instances on opportunities that have been brought in by partners or by other local Solution Specialists.


 


Designed for people with nonprofit industry expertise, this role will offer a unique opportunity for community engagement and collaboration across many cultures and lines of business.  The intentions and actions should be rooted in the desire to build transformative, customer-centric relationships across our key global nonprofits, partners and people, based in mutual, continued success.


 


Thanks to their excellent subject matter expertise, (Senior) Solution Sales Specialists design an ideal solution for the customer based on the existing service portfolio. This also includes the initial estimate and structure of prices that they present to customers in an initial proposal. If this proposal is accepted, they will make an appropriate statement of work. The Technical Evangelist will take this one step further where applicable to think outside the box and find solutions that might be needed but that do not yet exist and help bring these to fruition.


 


The Evangelist remains responsible until the business opportunity is contracted and bring their knowledge to every activity. They then ensure a smooth handover to the service delivery teams. They will also continue to support afterward if necessary, e.g., as part of the ONEImpact loop of giving back to society.


 


Support with the generation of leads



  • Creates external content like blog-articles from time to time (several times per year)

  • Knows how to conduct and advertise appealing webinars. Advanced features such as video and digital whiteboard

  • Is used to speaking freely in front of large groups

  • Leads account planning workshops with various specialists and combines the respective findings into a strategy; ensures the subsequent execution of the strategy


 


Community Development



  • Involves themselves with nonprofit technology networks and communities to find new opportunities

  • Helps identify areas of giveback within our technical capabilities throughout the year (3-4 projects) and drives these through to closure and case study/reference

  • Involvement with our strategic relationships, key vendors, platforms and ISVs


 


Solutions Development



  • Can anticipate the requirements in a conversation (e.g., on the phone) and directly calculate a rough order of magnitude (ROM) and a very rough business case

  • Leads complex workshops with board-level participation

  • Can create a tailor-made solution for the customer in terms of pricing and scope of services, consisting of standardized and individual modules



  • Knows not only the challenges of customers but also their markets; uses this knowledge to give customers new insights

  • Keeps in mind unique challenges for nonprofit industry orgs and can educate on offers and promotions that might be meaningful to them and incorporates them into ROMs and SOWs

  • Brings learnings and experiences internally to help cultivate new solutions to add to innovation pipeline within SoftwareOne and helps drive through to release


 


Solution Sales Enablement & Support



  • In markets that have made an investment in the ONEImpact program leveraging their own technology specialists – enable and support local resources with the goal of empowering them to find self-sufficiency and success

  • Drive pipeline, profit and engagement in regions that have not yet invested in ONEImpact

  • Regularly monitors the services pipeline aligned to nonprofit clients globally

  • Willing and able to assist with customer meetings across the industry

  • Proactively hosts educational sessions and pre-calls where required as part of local enablement and business development


 


Calculation of business cases



  • Divides a solution into parts; estimates the best case and worst-case incl. underlying assumptions; discusses the result with the customer, which results in a realistic estimate for both sides

  • Can present and monetarily quantify the value (e.g., cost-saving or risk minimization) of the solution for customers and incorporates this into an ROI calculation

  • Understands the impact of service and contract types on revenue and profits; uses this knowledge early in the sales process to shape the solution accordingly

  • Negotiates milestones and related payments



  • Uses professional presentations, but can also use ad-hoc visualizations with analog/digital whiteboard to respond to the situation

  • Gather customer requirements for Data Protection and Security to propose a suitable solution from the SoftwareONE Portfolio that addresses customer challenges and qualify the opportunity



  • Can explain the business impact of out-tasking; designs individual managed services in coordination with the delivery, but without on-site presales support of the service delivery; can define a complex operational model


Subject Matter Expertise Nonprofit Industry



  • Has general knowledge of challenges and use cases with technology in the nonprofit industry

  • Plugs in the gaps of knowledge on an industry level irrespective of technical specialization i.e. in the know on who is who for vendors, partners and ISVs, as well as events, networks and current affairs

  • Understands the funding, grants, credits, other unique promotions/offers available for nonprofits

  • Contribute and review RFPs for nonprofit customer opportunities in collaboration with BDMs, Solution Specialists and bid management teams

  • Support in creation and adaption of SoftwareOne Services and solutions for nonprofit customers

  • Provide guidance on tailoring existing portfolio into profitable, bespoke and scalable options based on real world experience; working closely with Innovation, Design and Technology teams at SoftwareOne

  • Idealize and create local options that can be adopted by technology teams to deliver, aligned to vendor initiatives or vertical requirements


Subject Matter Expertise Future Workplace



  • Can convert requirements, especially for Collaboration and Messaging, into appropriate solutions and create an attractive proposal plus statement of work.

  • Can create high-level individual solutions based on Microsoft 365 plus business case and present it to customers by conduction a requirements workshop, e.g., using a whiteboard.

  • Can build a high-level design (HLD) of Identity and Access Management solutions and thus convinces customers before handing over to the delivery.

  • Can design comprehensive Voice and Conferencing solutions; has detailed knowledge about the partner landscape (including price levels), e.g., Audiocodes/SmartTAP, Poly, Jabra, EPOS, BlueJeans, Numonix, and Verint plus understanding of legal and regulatory frameworks.

  • Can create a change management plan plus an executive presentation on the business case for Adoption and Change Management.

  • Has advanced competency to deliver pre-sales workshops with qualified opportunities
