IT Application Support Engineer



In this role you would be providing user support for all business applications including custom in-house developed ERP/MRP system. You would work closely with the technical support person and system developers to provide results using ad-hoc queries, investigate system anomalies, create training guides, as well as collect metrics on helpdesk issues. The role requires strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Prior experience of desktop infrastructure operations, in a global organization including desktop and laptop hardware and software support and installation is preferred.



Your responsibilities:

  • Interact with users to identify system issues. Gather information to gain an understanding of the user’s job / function, and the issue.

  • Resolve and escalate issues in accordance with the Service Level Agreements

  • Files and log helpdesk requests into ticketing system. Respond to users over the phone or via remote access system.

  • Provide user support for all business applications including custom in-house developed ERP/MRP system.

  • Develop metric to isolate repeat issues (problem/change management) and work with Application Development Team in providing a solution.

  • Test systems created by development team under the guidance of senior personnel.

  • Provide documentation to support test results.

  • Train users in the use of internally developed systems by providing individual and/or group training sessions.

  • Train (and support) users on tools such as the MS Office Suite of products

  • Explore new technologies as necessary in order to best utilize the available tools to meet user requirements.

  • Complete special projects or tasks as may be assigned by management.

Your profile:

  • Minimum of a 1-year experience providing 1st level application support on business applications such as Finance, Warehouse, Inventory Management or ERP/ MRP

  • Good experience with MS SQL Server specially writing T-SQL queries (SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE etc.)

  • Good communication skills – written and verbal (English and German language required).

  • Ability to prioritize work/service desk tickets based on business impact and criticality and respond quickly.

  • Must be able to translate/explain technical issues in simple non-technical language to the end users.

  • Developing SQL Server Reports using SSRS is a plus.

  • Developing Scripts and Applications in PowerShell, Python, Visual Basic, Web.

  • Ability to troubleshoot windows application using T-SQL tracing as well as debug using MS Visual Studio is a plus.
