We need an inspiring leader for our Technology Operations team. You will be based at our offices near Lausanne, Switzerland. You will have experience in deploying and operating SaaS cloud platforms at scale, embedding DevOps disciplines, and providing the technology services for colleagues across our global organization.

Mission


As a Director Technology Operations, you will directly influence the technology choices and how we use those technologies within the company, and in the services our customers receive.


You will know what a reference architecture and implementation of SaaS solutions looks like, and will be able to implement, improve and support ours. You will know how to equip the company with the right technology solutions and to operate them to the highest service levels.


You will know how to build, develop, nurture and support a global team of talented System Operations, DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering colleagues. You will have the ambition to look beyond the orthodox view of System Operations and embrace all disciplines related to the delivery and execution of digital solutions.


The services you provide will be appropriate, striking the right balance between state-of-the-art features and functions, and commercial realism.


As an organization focused on the shortest and safest path from code-commit to value in the hands of users, you will report to the Vice President of Engineering.


You will be required to:



  • Set the vision, strategy and roadmap for Technology Operations for all colleague and customer infrastructure services

  • Lead your organization modelling exemplary attitude and behaviors in the delivery of Technology Operations solutions and services

  • Develop a culture of Operational Service Excellence

  • Research, experiment and develop the use of technologies and design patterns to improve the services our customers experience and how we work as a company

  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with senior stakeholders, individually, as a community, and as required for reporting and control functions

  • Invest the Technology Operations budget responsibly

  • Act with autonomy, take accountability and remain aligned at all times to the company vision and direction

  • Lead the System Operations, DevOps Support and Site Reliability Engineering teams, as functions of the Vice President of Engineering


Your accountabilities include:



  • People management comprised of individual contributors and managers of several teams

  • Design, sourcing, implementation, configuration, operation, maintenance and continuous improvement of technology infrastructure and related services, including the full Service Delivery Lifecycle

  • Service level targets for provisioning time, availability, reliability, scalability, capacity, performance, security and usability, metrics that expose these and actions that improve them

  • Active engagement with stakeholders to define and execute Technology Operations and IT service delivery best practices, openly reporting performance and responding to feedback

  • Define and execute the Technology Operations roadmap in response to the company Product Roadmap, Program Plan, Project Plan or other initiatives

  • Active management and optimization of technology costs

  • Operating a zero-exception information security environment

  • Continuous improvement towards very high automation, very low failure rates, and very short lead times, deploying increasing resource capacity to innovation and further improvement


This position requires some travel between SOPHiA GENETICS locations and suppliers (up to 30%).
