Analyst Impact Investing


RobecoSAM is looking for an experienced Analyst to join its Impact Investing team. The team is responsible for the development and management of a number of investment strategies dedicated to the fast growing segment of Impact Investing. Respective portfolios invest in companies whose products and services have a high exposure to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By balancing financial and impact research they seek to achieve an attractive risk-return characteristics.


In this role, you support the portfolio managers with diligent research on impact themes as well as with the identification and selection of new investment opportunities. You closely interact with our internal SI Research department in building our investment universe along our Impact Framework. Based on this, you perform deep-dive research on relevant impact topics and conclude with reports summarizing key trends and opportunities. Applying proprietary tools, you screen companies on their financial attractiveness and recommend investments based on solid investment thesis.


RobecoSAM gives analysts the unique opportunity to become a true specialist in the field of impact investing. You will have a high degree of visibility within the organization and will be able to participate on conferences and client event. Responsibilities:



  • Provide in depth and creative analysis of impact themes. Evaluate its market potential, find companies that achieve a high exposure to the positive impact themes and define metrics that can be used to measure and report on the impact on environment/society (contribution to the SDGs).


  • Apply proprietary screening tool to select a research pipeline of attractive investment opportunities. Assess companies from an impact angle. Analyze and measure factors in business models, products and services that enable long term environmental and social impact returns.


  • Formulate comprehensive impact investment cases, reflecting both the financial and impact aspects of the recommendation.


  • Work to enhance processes and tools to better identify/evaluate best impact opportunities.


  • Support the sales team with presenting the strategies at conferences and client events. Publish articles and research notes.



Requirements:



  • Extensive knowledge of financial markets, at least 5 years working experience in relevant fields of industry or company research. Preferably expertise in impact investing


  • Knowledge of the standard financial valuation tools (e.g., DCF, EVA, multiples) and when and how to apply them


  • Master’s university degree in a relevant field, with experience and/or education in business, finance or economics, or CFA designation


  • Excellent communication and presentation skills in German and English


  • Creativity, flexibility and proactivity, and enjoy cooperation with different teams in an international setting


  • Entrepreneurial and business-oriented mind-set, and the ability to process information in a comprehensive and conclusive manner


  • High degree of self-reliance, independent working style and sense of responsibility
