About the job
We are now looking for a Project Leader Ports to secure the business objectives according to the IKEA strategic direction and Category Business Plan. You establish and develop high performing Ports related business, meeting the needs of business and our customers today and in the future. The aim for you is to be the preferred business partner for Ports authorities and Terminal owners. You contribute to the optimisation of the value chain that creates better products and services at lower total costs to reach more of the many customers.
You will work for Category Area Transport, in connection to both Category Land and Category Ocean & Air, and report to the Category Area Manager Transport. Location of this job is Pratteln.
Your main assignments as Project Leader Ports are:
· Being responsible for business development with global Ports network you will create Business Plan which will contribute to IKEA Supply Strategy. Develop effective relationships with Ports and in cooperation with Ocean Service Providers and IKEA stakeholders in order to secure performance where we are able to move our goods/containers within agreed free time through the ports and allow on carriage Service Providers to pick up containers from ports without delays.
· In this position you will be responsible for co-creating strategy for all ports relations, connections and business set up for IKEA connected to ports in all markets. You will both; create set-up, strategy as well you will be responsible for ports operational arrangement and efficiency in connection to IKEA inbound and outbound. You will be responsible for delivering KPIs, like IKEA containers movement through the ports including: time of the containers staying in the ports, lowering demurrage costs, arrangements of seamless container preparations for on carriage from the port gate.
· Professionally challenge and built relations with Ports constantly improve all aspects of their performance and capabilities, based on current and future needs. Cooperates within Ports & IKEA stakeholders to continuously increase their overall service and costs structure through new business opportunities, such as better networks, alternative options, better in port set-up, in port solutions, innovation, digitalisation, business development etc.
· Identify and propose new set-ups & options based on long-term business needs. Participates in Industry forums, identification of "prioritized" and “potential prioritized” ports based on discussion and constant dialogue with Ports.
· Identifies and acts on business opportunities, actively takes part in tenders and other procurement activities according to relevant working methods. Acts on opportunities & creates preconditions for SPs' and IKEA impact and development of all relevant business performance criteria.
· Maintains extensive knowledge of relevant Ports and related transport market conditions, keeps up-to-date with industry trends, incl. innovative approaches is aware of economical influences (resulting to e.g. network/flow changes etc.). Follows the development of legal/regulatory framework.
· Actively contribute to Availability and Affordability thorough improving Ports efficiency and accuracy.
We want you, because:
· You have a wide experience (at least 5 years) in working with purchasing and business development within Transportation or Ports and Ocean industry. Experience from other parts of the Supply Chain such as Retail or Purchase Development is very valuable.
· You have understanding of the transport industry, market conditions and macroeconomic trends and how those influence transport and Ports business.
· You have been successful developing and handling businesses from strategic and tactical perspectives, preferably in multinational environment
· You have experience of interacting with external partners including service provider management
· You have excellent communication & negotiation skills and the ability to build trustful relationships
· You have good proven knowledge in building & evaluating fact-based business cases
· You are fluent in English, both written and spoken
