The University of Bern educates over 18'500 students and employs more than 7'300 people in around 150 institutes and nine competence centres, which are located over 90 different places.
The Vice-Rectorate Research is setting up the Innovation Office, which is to promote and strengthen innovation and entrepreneurship at the University of Bern - as a cornerstone of future success.

As a catalyst, the Innovation Office accelerates the further development of ideas and new inventions and strengthens the transfer of innovative research and teaching to business and society. The aim is to establish the necessary structures, processes and instruments at university and institute level in order to meet social, ecological and economic challenges by means of innovative solutions.

Your tasks will include in particular

• You establish the Innovation Office as the central contact point and hub of the University of Bern for the topics of innovation and entrepreneurship, in coordination with the Vice-Rector Research and the Directorates of the University Administration.


• You will build your own open, motivated innovation team with active support from your supervisors.


• Together with your team, you will promote a dynamic culture of innovation at the University of Bern by creating broad offerings to raise awareness and acquire innovation and entrepreneurship skills for all interested students, researchers and professors of the University.


• You take care of the further development of new inventions and ideas and strengthen the transfer of innovative research and teaching into business and society.


• Together with your team, you coordinate the various support services for innovation projects and spin-offs of the university.


• You promote a strong network between the university, the private sector and other external partners of the cantonal and national innovation ecosystem.

Your profile

• You have an academic degree at master's or doctoral level.


• You have a profound professional experience of several years in innovation management and know innovation ecosystems in all their facets.


• You also have experience in entrepreneurial activities, ideally also with startups.


• As an integrating personality, you find it easy to deal with different stakeholders.


• Your strengths lie both in teamwork and in independently carrying out your own tasks. In doing so, you have a high level of initiative and implementation skills.


• You have strong communication skills, both written and spoken (German and English), can motivate and possess negotiation skills.


• You have digital affinity and a corresponding user experience.
