Job Description


ACCOUNTABILITIES



  • Advise and provide guidance and accounting judgments, with a focus on inventory reserves, fixed asset impairments, embedded lease accounting, idle capacity determinations, and other cost accounting matters

  • Contracts >50OY require assessment of accounting implications to be performed and submitted to corporate accounting

  • Act on as expert on accounting matters and communicate accounting changes to GMS/GQ

  • Oversight of SOX control environment for GMS

  • Coordinate, monitor, and communicate both internal and external audit processes.  Ensure appropriate follow-up and communication with auditors to close deficiencies and control gaps

  • Identify and evaluate improvement opportunities regarding SOX and Compliance, review those opportunities with relevant stakeholders, and work with the team to implement the improvements

  • Field audit inquiries, assemble data, and submit accounting matters to audit or corporate controlling

  • Ensure controls are properly documented and will demonstrate sufficient controls

  • Act as a partner and GMS/GQ liaison to SOX PMO group


EDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:



  • BA/BS Degree in Accounting

  • CPA (or equivalent license)

  • Experience in Pharmaceutical Industry, including cost accounting experience in operations

  • Minimum of 15 years accounting/finance experience with at least 5 years of management/supervisory experience

  • Experience identifying and implementing process improvements affecting other stakeholders

  • Experience working with all levels and disciplines of people within a large organization

  • Strong ability to analyze and understand large amounts of data

  • Excellent systems skills (SAP, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)

  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written) and the ability to persuasively convey critical elements of complex issues
