At Global Procurement we have embarked into a transformational journey aimed to leverage our function to generate incremental value for UCB.  Our purpose is to systematically connect the needs of our business stakeholders to innovative solution coming from the market and the suppliers.
Our team is primarily focused on upstream procurement, business partnering, market analysis, demand management, negotiation, contract management and supplier relationship management.
Our technical investments area manages and supports all capital investments and operational expenses related with global Manufacturing and Services units. The type of projects we get involved with span from major green field projects, such as the construction of state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities, machinery and equipment, real state, facilities management, maintenance and utilities. UCB has entered a significant phase of expansion of the internal manufacturing capacity and its planned to continue to grow in the long term. In this context, there will be unique opportunities for personal development with high levels of business exposure and impact.   



To this extent we are looking to fill the position of Technical Buyer to be based in Bulle, Switzerland.

You will contribute by: 


 



  • Managing a diversity of sourcing projects in support of our expansion plan and/or the lifecycle management of existing contracts. These include work in new RFQs, projects around sustainability and risk mitigation, supplier network optimizations, benchmarking, market landscape and competitive position, supplier due diligence and compliance. 

  • Acting as the single point of contact for the local site and take ownership of related projects.

  • Building solid relationships with the extended stakeholder eco-system to fully understand the business and the technical requirements.

  • Developing specific expertise in some of the categories with the aim to provide holistic approaches across the spend areas.

  • Aligning and providing strategic guidance to stakeholders in the areas of expertise.

  • Liaising with other colleagues within Procurement such as the centers of expertise for procurement excellence (analytics, sustainability, risk management, systems and digitalization, etc.).

  • Providing the business with the market trends, the competitive landscape and the dynamics around the supply markets enabling the development of sound procurement strategies and execution plans.

  • Assessing opportunities and implementation of projects in supplier consolidation, material standardization, improvement of transactional costs, savings initiatives, risk mitigation, etc.  

  • Managing external partner’s relationships.

  • Establishing business agreements and their lifecycle management.


 


For this position we will be looking for someone with the following expertise: 


 



  • Recent graduate with an engineering academic background (preferred) 

  • Ability to develop the business acumen and enthusiast about developing into a technical commercial role

  • Excellent analytical skills, dynamic and proactive

  • Good interpersonal relationships, clear communication and resilience

  • Mindset and behaviours aligned to our values where compliance, reputation and high ethical standards are core

  • Great communication skills - ability to think creatively, engage in effective communication and promote change with internal stakeholders and suppliers 

  • Resilient and able to handle a diversified number of projects

  • Fluent in French and English
