Avionics Lead Engineer – Test Rig


Part of Leonardo (through its Helicopter division), Kopter is set to become a Centre of Excellence for new light helicopters and an incubator of new technologies; also contributing to the development of new hybrid and electrical propulsion systems. The single-engine, turbine-powered SH09 now under development will outperform its peers with increased modularity, modern electronic systems, and a larger cabin and cargo hold. The SH09 delivers latest safety standards, more performance and comfort at low operating costs. Kopter’s 320 talented team members are primarily based near Zurich, Switzerland – with corporate/engineering offices at Wetzikon, and the production facilities in the towns of Mollis and Näfels.


Your responsibilities


Lead Engineer of Test Rig is responsible for managing the development projects concerning the avionics test rig, making sure to analyze the avionics functions and requirements, define test requirements, create customized test scenarios, write up final test procedures and make sure the test requirements are correctly implemented in the avionics test rig.


Responsibilities:


The Avionics Lead Engineer- Test Rig is responsible to:



  • Manage the avionics test rig project.

  • Develop the test rig in order to support testing of avionics functions (e.g. airframe interface, engine interface, connectivity solutions, digital data transfer, autopilot).

  • Make sure that the avionics test rig is under configuration control.

  • Support analysis of bug and issues found during ground test and flight test campaigns.


Tasks:



  • Lead development project with test rig suppliers.

  • Analyze software designs and develop tests and test-automation suites.

  • Writing test plans and creating test cases for the avionics.

  • Troubleshooting any errors and streamlining the testing procedures.

  • Preparing test reports.

  • Develop software solutions from test requirments.

  • Plan, execute, and report avionics testing.

  • Specify and procure automated test equipment to support verification of avionics requirements.

  • Use measurement and analysis to determine root causes for failures in avionics testing.

  • Support technical meetings (SRR, PDR, CDR, etc.) as required.

  • Develop (or revise) content for the functional description document, system requirements data, interface description document.

  • Create avionics substantiation and compliance data (test reports) together with company CVEs.

  • Provide assistance to system engineers for the creation of avionics substantiation and compliance data.

  • Perform systems bench testing, problem report investigation/testing and take action to resolve test discrepancies.


Your qualifications, skills, competences


Competences:



  • University Degree in electrical, computer, aerospace engineering or a related field.

  • Quick learner with strong analytical and problem solving skills.

  • Robust practical and analytical understanding of analog and digital electronics.

  • Ability to troubleshoot and think out of the box.

  • Familiarity with airborne software and hardware development DO-178 and DO-254.

  • Familiarity with sensors including linear variable differential transformers, resistance temperature detectors, thermocouples, pressure transducers, and resolvers.

  • Familiarity with digital interfaces (e.g. Ethernet, ARINC 429, RS232 and RS422).

  • Proficiency with software code languages (e.g. C, C++, C#, Python, Matlab/Simulink).


Experience:



  • 5 or more years of relevant experience in testing and simulation environment.

  • Experience with software code languages (e.g. C, C++, C#, Python, Matlab/Simulink).

  • Familiarity with basic avionics interfaces.

  • Experience in planning, executing, and reporting electronics testing.

  • Experience in programming, debugging, and troubleshooting devices.
