Facebook Reality Labs is dedicated to the research and development required to bring virtual and augmented reality to billions of people around the world. We are looking for an exceptional researcher with a proven track record in solving computer vision, computer graphics, and machine learning challenges towards photorealistic virtual humans. As a Research Scientist at FRL, you will pursue research, and work with other Computer Vision and Machine Learning Researchers and Engineers to solve challenges at the forefront of computer vision that transform virtual reality from dream to reality. The ideal candidate will have a passion for solving complex research challenges in ways that address real world problems.Research Scientist Responsibilities
Plan and execute cutting-edge research to advance the state-of-the-art in virtual humans.
Develop new advanced technologies related to the generation of photorealistic and interactable virtual humans, including dense 3D surface reconstruction/tracking, photorealistic rendering methods, appearance capture and modelling, generative models for virtual human.
Contributing research that can be applied to Oculus product development.
Publish research results in top-tier journals and at leading international conferences.
Minimum Qualifications
PhD in the field of Computer Vision, Computer Graphics, Machine Learning, or a related field with a proven academic track-record.
Experience with 3D reconstruction/tracking, appearance acquisition, photorealistic rendering.
Interpersonal experience: cross-group and cross-culture collaboration.
Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.
Preferred Qualifications
Proven track record of achieving significant results as demonstrated by grants, fellowships, patents, as well as first-authored publications at leading conferences (e.g., SIGGRAPH, CVPR, ECCV and ICCV, NIPS, ICLR, ICML) or journals (e.g., TOG, PAMI, IJCV, JMLR).
3+ years experience designing and developing computer vision or machine learning algorithms in C++.
3+ years of experience with prototyping algorithms in Python.
Experience with generative models such as GANs or VAEs for modeling virtual human.
Experience in 3D computer vision and deep learning models for this domain.
Demonstrated software engineer experience via an internship, work experience, coding competitions, or widely used contributions in open source repositories (e.g. GitHub).
