  Swiss Federal Institute for Forest, Snow and Landscape Research WSL  The Swiss Federal Institute for Forest, Snow and Landscape Research WSL is part of the ETH Domain. Approximately 600 people work on the sustainable use and protection of the environment and on the handling of natural hazards.

The research unit Biodiversity and Conservation Biology studies the diversity of life in its various forms, from genetic diversity to the diversity of species and ecosystems as well as their interactions. This unit hosts the group Spatial Evolutionary Ecology where the PostDoc will be located. In the frame of a SNF supported project in macroecology, we are searching for 2 to 3 years, starting between July and September 2021, for aPostDoc in Macroecology 80-100% (f/m/d)You will evaluate macroecological patterns in environmental space with an aim of evaluating the influence of both current and past environmental conditions. You will explore ecological and evolutionary factors influencing patterns of species/phylogenetic/functional richness, and other macroecological rules in both geographic and environmental space. You will join a dynamic group and share ideas with both, current group members and international collaborators. You will also participate in collaborative research through the newly created Biodiversity Center at WSL. You will publish your results in international scientific journals and present them at dedicated conferences.

You have acquired a PhD in biology or environmental sciences. You have a strong background in macroecology, phylogeography, spatial modeling (knowledge of process-based modeling is a plus) big data and statistical analyses. You have a good publication record and are used to a high standard of independent. You are ambitious and highly motivated, have a structured and careful working attitude, and demonstrate a high level of team spirit.
