At Beckman Coulter in Switzerland, to reinforce our current team, we are currently recruiting a Field Application Specialist, specialized in Automation within the Diagnostic division for the region: Zürich, Basel, Bern (home-based)


About the role


As a Field Application Specialist, you will be in charge of the applications support of Beckman Coulter Diagnostic´s automation products. You assess potential application of company products to meet customer needs pre and/or post-sales and prepare detailed product specifications for the development and implementation of customer products/applications/solutions in alignment with manufacturer stated specifications.


You build detailed design and implementation specifications for sophisticated products/applications/solutions, some of them with process simulation, often requiring rapid software modeling and/or product demo/training.


You will work closely with sales and support staff to provide high-level customer support before, during, and after a sale.


Your key responsibilities



  • Automation Application Support across multiple customer sites


  • Coordinate with sales team on pre-sales technical presentations and serve as technical resource


  • Understand and adapt customer workflows and scope of projects


  • Plan and execute product demonstrations for prospective customers


  • Provide customer training and support; maintain positive customer relations


  • Build, adapt, and optimize workflow processes in the customers` lab.


  • Troubleshoot and diagnose technical problems and serve as a liaison with internal customer support teams as needed


  • Overnight domestic and international travel, up to 70%, when required, sometimes on short notice



Your background


In this customer-facing role you will work closely with customers and their application requirements in order to adapt their workflows to our automation platforms.



  • Educated to B. Sc. or equivalent in a biological or related subject


  • Minimum 3 year´s hands-on experience with laboratory automation equipment


  • Ideally in similar position as Laboratory Manager

  • A high-level understanding of IT related processes and their implementation in the field (labolatory workflow processes)


  • A previous experience of technical or application support within a diagnostic or laboratory environment would be beneficial


  • The position is home-based and will require approximately up to 80% travel


  • Language skills: fluency in German and English is required and ideally French


  • Location: Zürich, Basel or Bern area.
