Clinical Portfolio Planner

Summary


Responsible for leading collaborative partnerships with functional stakeholders to identify, develop and execute advanced data capture and analysis methods to facilitate capacity management decision-making activities.  


  Duties and Responsibilities



  • Utilize resource and capacity management processes and tools that align project, resources, and costs to achieve increased efficiency in portfolio planning and execution.

  • Ensure enterprise and project and portfolio management (PPM) systems accurately reflect resource capacity and project demand across the entire clinical portfolio

  • Coordinate strategic alignment of resources by working with project teams, functional line managers, and business operations teams to allocate and assign resources to project-based work in alignment with portfolio priorities.

  • Support functions in conducting long-term resource needs analysis by aligning on assumptions for portfolio progression, capacity strategies, and financial targets to support quarterly portfolio reviews

  • Conduct periodic resource assessments to identify risks and coordinate proposals for resolution of resource constraints.

  • Work with business users and cross functional teams to create/update Standard Clinical Planning Templates and ensure standards are applied in capturing key Development Plan Milestones and Activities across cross functional plans

  • Work closely with key stakeholder functions and leadership to identify and address data analytics, visualization needs and sources of data

  • Partner with technical team(s) to develop insightful, accurate analytics and visualizations to identify trends , exceptions to the KPIs, and ensure escalation of risks

  • Support the development of resource demand models and forecasting algorithms. Identify and lead changes to processes and tools in order to drive continuous improvement.

  • Drive systematic improvements to data quality and work with systems teams to improve data and reporting to better support resource management.

  • Collaborate with other members of Clinical Portfolio and Capacity Management to support portfolio performance tracking and reporting.

  • Maintains knowledge of industry trends, competition, and current/emerging technologies.

  • Act as a change agent to articulate intent, drive awareness, and support communications and training to ensure effective adoption and utilization of system and process improvements.


Requirements



  • Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, finance, science or related field

  • Minimum 6 years of experience in life sciences or related industry

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills

  • Experience designing, deploying, and supporting PPM, reporting, or business operations solutions, with an emphasis on resource capacity planning

  • Proficient in the use of enterprise Project Management, Business Intelligence, (BI), and reporting tools

  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written); effective in interaction cross-functionally and with senior management

  • Significant knowledge of the clinical development planning, management, and reporting systems

  • Oncology and/or hematology experience preferred

  • Demonstrate success in establishing successful working relationships with a diverse range of internal and external key stakeholders.

  • Ability to work independently in a rapidly changing environment

  • Excellent judgment and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to think creatively, strategically and tactically
