Job Description


JOB PURPOSE: 


The Lean Manufacturing specialist role follows the Lean manufacturing principles. The role directly supports all departments at the Solothurn Manufacturing Site.
Main Tasks: Support implementation of a Lean Manufacturing Operating System at the Site including training people on methods and tools. Lead Kaizen and 5S events. Support implementation of operational review meetings, visual management boards, as well as implement/lead Continuous Improvement initiatives at the site. Facilitate process mapping and root cause analysis on the manufacturing floor. Support development/ implementation of a Control Room and ensure metrics (KPIs) are in place.


S/he will also support project execution and drive process mapping to ensure that processes flow smoothly through the business, as well as provides recommendations to improve the efficiency of the business processes, identify best practices and document the flows of the business operations. 


MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES:


Continuous Improvement



  1. Leads, manages and prioritizes improvement opportunities through cross functional workshops and kaizen events

  2. Leads projects with specific focus on initiatives to further standardize and optimize processes and procedures as it pertains to labor, productivity, and operational processes in alignment with global initiatives.    

  3. Support the site Leadership Team in deploying strategic initiatives in order to contribute to the global goals / targets, by ensuring consistency and clarity. 

  4. Influences while providing development to leaders around operational gaps. This includes working directly with multiple levels of leadership to develop and drive processes.

  5. Provide analytical evaluation of data to identify process improvements to maximize production and identify capacity constraints and its impacts on the long term


Operational Activities



  1. Incorporate and train sound operational principles, including LEAN, Six Sigma, process mapping, 5S, etc. in an effort to drive continuous improvement strategies across the Manufacturing Site. 

  2. Continuously assess process capability and ensure adequate training and resources

  3. Design and maintain Sharepoint repository of best practices

  4. Ensure metrics are in place to drive achievement of Corporate / Site and Team objectives 

  5. Conduct Problem solving, root cause analyses and identify appropriate process and/or technological solutions

  6. Support implementation of Reliability Room (control room) and maintain it

  7. Support implementation of operational review meetings(huddles), visual management boards


Project management



  1. Support PMO activities in order to allow the SOL Site to get started.
     


 


Qualifications



  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field such as Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Bio-Engineering, Business Engineering

  • Lean Six Sigma certification is a plus (Green Belt)

  • Min. 8 years of experience in an operations/manufacturing environment (Biotech Manufacturing experience preferred)

  • Deep knowledge of experience with Lean Manufacturing methodologies and tools, Project Management and Continuous Improvement 

  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills, fluent in English;

  • Project Management skills

  • MS Office package skills

  • BPM tools (Visio, Business Optix, ARIS, etc.)
