About the Role


 


We are looking for a Senior Network Engineerwhoacts as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for our global network footprint. The role needs a strong understanding of network technologies which can help build positive cross-functional team dynamics and ensure outsourcing partner(s) develop, validate & implement the solutions by complying to Swiss Re standards. You are also at ease while working with Governance & Audit teams for any regulatory requirements for services in your scope.


 


The successful candidate will also support the existing Engineering team in their daily work and take over the responsibility in Service Design and Transition to deliver a constantly improving, cost efficient and highly available service.

Formal / Technical Skills:



  • Strong stakeholder management skills for representing network services to other business units, negotiating contracts with providers and lead Governance topics.

  • Strong analytical, problem solving and troubleshooting skills relating to networking and security implementations

  • Ability to carry out detailed network and security analysis (troubleshooting, developing optimization proposals etc.)

  • Methodical and systematic approach towards gathering requirements, designing solutions, documentation and communication; ability to assess the marketplace (understand what is out there); ability to translate requirements into solutions

  • Ability to design high availability networking concepts and techniques i.e. Load Balancing, Clustering, Failover, diverse connectivity scenarios


 


Network technologies:



  • Strong understanding of SD-WAN/LAN/WAN technologies and Connectivity (MPLS/Internet)

  • Knowledge, deep understanding and experience of Network Security technologies (Firewalls, Proxies, Internet protocols like HTTPs, WSS)

  • Extensive knowledge of Cisco technologies (routing/switching/wireless)

  • Familiarity with NPM (network performance management) and APM (application performance management) disciplines

  • Deep understanding of BGP routing and VPN (site to site, overlay networking) with emphasis on Cloud connectivity

  • Experience working with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools e.g Solarwinds, Wireshark

  • Scripting/Programming know-how such as PowerShell, Perl/Python, Bash/Shell

  • Proven experience in Windows and or Linux operating systems



  • Automation tooling knowledge is a plus


 


Language Skills:



  • English

  • Any German dialect (desirable)
