The AO Research Institute Davos' (ARIs) purpose is to advance patient care through innovative orthopedic research and development concerning musculoskeletal, spine and cranio-maxillo-facial trauma, degenerative musculoskeletal diseases, infections, and congenital disorders. ARI's Biomedical Materials Focus Area is committed to designing advanced biomaterials and the development of manufacturing technologies for improved musculoskeletal disorders therapies. We create polymeric biomaterials that react to environmental stimuli, that interact with cells and tissues and that are amenable to cutting-edge biofabrication technologies.


We are looking for a highly motivated person as


an Analytical Chemist at the Biomedical Materials Focus Area of the Regenerative Orthopedics Program of the AO Research Institute Davos (ARI).  


The successful applicant will be working on the development and testing of a local antibiotic delivery system for infection prevention in trauma and orthopedic surgery. The role will involve contribution to developing the final formulation, technical specifications, target product profile, analytical methods for quality control, scale up, and identification of a delivery device. The position may be particularly suitable for candidates interested in both research and industrial development aspects of biomedical materials.


Requirements: The ideal candidate is driven by strong motivation and holds a degree in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences or related field with specific background in Analytical Chemistry, HPLC, validation of analytical methods and stability studies; has excellent all-around Chemistry laboratory skills and familiarity with biopolymers and rheology. Experience in development of injectable pharmaceutical products or medical devices will be valued. Microbiology laboratory experience is beneficial, but not required.


The position is based in Davos for a period of 2 years.


Eligibility to apply for a Visa for temporary residence is Switzerland is essential.
