The AO is a medically guided, not-for-profit organization led by an international group of surgeons specialized in the treatment of trauma and disorders of the musculoskeletal system. Founded in 1958 by 13 visionary surgeons, the AO fosters one of the most extensive networks of over 215,000 surgeons, operating room personnel, and scientists in over 100 countries.

The Communications department at the AO needs someone to join its lively, exciting team. This person will develop andmanage media content that supports the AO's mission and enhances its reputation with key AO stakeholders. Based at the AO's headquarters in Davos, Switzerland, you will drive state-of-the-art communications output, manage customer-oriented content solutions across the organization, and ensure AO's communications deliver a consistent tone of voice.


In this role you will be required to:



  • Produce the annual strategic content plan for all communications activities at the AO Foundation level.

  • Plan and continually optimize content to deliver more engaging, audience-relevant content.

  • Plan and execute communications activities through a content pipeline for the AO Foundation, (e-newsletters, website, Intranet, and social media).

  • Indirectly manage resources across the communications team (matrix organization) and directly manage freelancers to develop excellent, state-of-the-art content.

  • Manage the editorial competence area for content and implement brand compliance across the AO for the tone of voice and editorial style.

  • Act as point of contact and consultant for all communications related topics both internally and externally.

  • Provide change communications expertise for strategic change projects across the AO.                                                


To master this challenge, you must have:



  • Mother tongue English level, with knowledge of German, very familiar with the culture of a Swiss international organization.

  • Strong communications skills in a multicultural environment.

  • Strong organizational and project management skills.

  • Experience with visual aspects of storytelling.

  • Ability to publish content to website, e-mail marketing, and social media platforms.

  • Pragmatic and proactive attitude.

  • Team and consensus orientation.

  • Service and result orientation–be flexible, customer oriented, and have a consulting approach.

  • Ability to focus on audience needs, through stakeholder analysis and backward planning.

  • Strong attention to detail and a passion for excellence in communications.

  • Discretion and composure with senior stakeholders.
