Position Summary


The Sr. Director, Corporate Communications, Europe will be responsible for implementing strategic organizational communication strategies for building the company’s profile in target European markets in support of commercial product launches. External stakeholders include media (medical, industry and general), patient advocacy groups and others who influence the public discussion around therapeutic innovation and contribute positively to Seagen’s external image and reputation. This position will drive communications strategies and implement integrated PR programs to support the business objectives working across the organization, including product communications, patient advocacy, marketing, medical affairs and other functions. This person will oversee communications for the company’s marketed product(s) and pipeline by providing strategic counsel and oversight for six growing affiliates. The incumbent will also develop, execute and align internal communications strategies and programs that educate, engage and enable employees. The role reports to the VP, Investor Relations and Interim Head of Corporate Communications based in the U.S.



Principal Responsibilities



  • Develop strategic communication plans and tactics to support brand strategy and business goals

    • Drive media coverage around key milestones, seize relevant opportunities to enhance the organization’s image and awareness through public events

    • Adapt global Corporate Affairs messaging

    • Issues management


  • Work in close coordination with the U.S. and Global Brand teams to develop media strategies and unbranded PR programs

  • Partner with global internal communications team and the European and affiliate leadership teams to extend and appropriately adapt internal communications initiatives to employees in Europe and in addition drive European internal communications strategy and tactical execution

  • Partner with global and functional partners to maximize positive media coverage across appropriate channels and develop internal communications content

  • Develop and execute strategic communications plans to maximize the launch of new products and the dissemination of new scientific data and publications

  • Oversee all product PR and patient advocacy programs

  • Partner with market access team to develop strategies to effectively channel company messages

  • Build partnerships with brand digital teams to drive relevant positioning and conversations with global consumers and across corporate-owned channels; help build digital capabilities

  • Develop a compelling brand story to tell throughout the calendar year, across internal and external channels

  • Oversee media training for general managers and other company representatives

  • Manage agency team(s) and budgets



Qualifications



  • 10+ years professional experience in Corporate Communications with a focus on external and internal communications in a corporate biopharmaceutical company industry on a local or international level

  • Broad communications background that includes external and internal communications with content expertise in science communication, issues management, culture change and market access issues

  • Investor Relations and Government Affairs experience is a plus

  • Strong management, planning and implementation skills, as well as a creative and effective approach to problem solving

  • Excellent knowledge of media, patient groups and other external stakeholders

  • Experience counseling senior leaders on business opportunities, communications objectives, strategy and message is required

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Demonstrated ability to oversee public relations agency partners is required

  • Demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguous situations is required

  • Outstanding written and presentation skills

  • Ability to deliver in high-pressure situations and with short deadlines


Education



  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism or related field, or equivalent experience required; advanced degree preferred
