We are looking for


You are a Portfolio Manager who will be in charge of managing and developing an African focused fund.


The position is based in our office in Geneva, with reporting line to the Head of the Blended Finance Portfolios unit and support from an Assistant Portfolio Manager. Job description



  • Implement the investment and impact objectives of the fund as determined annually by the Board of Directors

  • Prepare the fund's business plan and perform financial performance forecasts

  • Coordinate the Fund’s monthly Investment Committees, manage communication with IC members and prepare all IC meeting documentation and minutes

  • Liaise and coordinate actively with the Pipeline team to manage the fund’s deal flow (pipeline of deals, IC decisions including special conditions, etc.)

  • Liaise with the Investment Operations and Forex teams for the compliance clearance, legal closing, disbursement and currency hedging of each transaction

  • Monitor the fund's portfolio diversification and ensure compliance with the Issue Document, Investment Policy and Procedures and other guidelines

  • Monitor and manage fund's portfolio risks, including FX, maturity, liquidity, AML/KYC and interest rate risk; develop monitoring tools where required

  • Conduct liquidity forecasting, develop proposals for short term cash placements and prepare capital drawdown memos

  • Respond to internal and external ad hoc information requests, including Due Diligence from existing and potential public and private investors

  • Produce Board meeting related material in connection with all Portfolio management issues.

  • Provide input as required to the fund Q3 and Q4 audit processes

  • Oversee the production of all fund reports: monthly, quarterly, annual, factsheet, ESR and AML/KYC

  • Provide input on other marketing activities (website content, conference material)


Requirements


The ideal candidate is a team player who is highly organized, autonomous, and able to work in a dynamic and challenging environment. Ideally, you have the following qualifications:



  • A solid experience related to investments in emerging and frontier markets, with a background in portfolio management, credit risk analysis or deal negotiation and a solid knowledge of accounting (in particular IFRS)

  • Highly motivated self-starter with a strong work ethic and a can-do, problem solving attitude

  • Willingness to learn with a proactive, structured and independent working style

  • Ease at interacting with a multitude of internal and external stakeholders at various seniority levels

  • Experience in Sub-Saharan Africa would be advantageous

  • Fluent English, other languages (German, French, Spanish) a plus

  • Having obtained or in the last stages of obtaining the CFA, CIIA, CAIA or similar qualification

  • Swiss/EU national or Valid work permit for Switzerland is required
