Junior Scientist in Hippocampus Modeling (W/M)

Your mission :

The aim of the EPFL Blue Brain Project, a Swiss brain research initiative founded and directed by Professor Henry Markram, is to establish simulation neuroscience as a complementary approach alongside experimental, theoretical and clinical neuroscience to understanding the brain, by building the world’s first biologically detailed digital reconstructions and simulations of the mouse brain. Within the Simulation Neuroscience division we are looking for a Junior Scientist in Hippocampus Modeling (W/M).Main duties and responsibilities include :



  • Develop the current model of rodent hippocampus

  • Literature mining

  • to identify key parameters

  • to build and validate models

  • Use in-house tools

  • Exploit models. Make predictions on the functional role of the hippocampus

  • Report work progresses (JlRA, documents, presentations)

Your profile :



  • Experience in the field of Hippocampus research

  • Experience in Scientific Computing Software (python, scipy, numpy, Linux)

  • Interest in participating in a collaborative big science project

  • Strong team player

  • Fluent English in speech and writing

Nice to have :



  • Experience in Neuroscience data analysis and statistics

  • Experience in version control software, shell scripting and using High-Performance computing resources

  • Experience in existing Neuroscience tools for neuronal modelling
