We are looking for the Commercial Director within Performance Chemicals business segment (Specialty Carbons and Fumed Metal Oxides), who will be responsible for delivering margin performance and leading, planning and executing on business activities in EMEA region. As a key member of EMEA leadership team, the Commercial Director will play a critical role in shaping regional business strategy. The incumbent will be responsible for leading the commercial team and establishing goals and strategies for short term execution and further business development. The Commercial Director will provide leadership and direction in response to globalized market changes, striving for maximized margins and competitiveness.



Fumed Metal Oxides business is offering fumed silicas and fumed aluminas that deliver high performance in variety of applications, including adhesives, coatings, food, pharmaceuticals, sealants, and rubbers.

Our Specialty Carbons business is developing carbon blacks that deliver color, conductivity, mechanical performance and ultraviolet (UV) protection for specialty applications such as coatings, adhesives plastics, toners and printing inks.


Job Responsibilities, Responsabilités liées à la fonction



  • Leads a team of multinational employees, motivates and develops individuals and the team;

  • Drives Commercial Excellence mindset, strategy and execution;

  • Contributes for the preparation of the annual budget in the region, being responsible for the volumes and margins in this segment;

  • Has solid understanding of the competitive environment and direct responsibility to anticipate market trends and respond proactively;

  • Anticipates global environment trends in order to prepare the company for future changes;

  • Ensures achievement of goals in the product line segment, related to items of major importance, such as capital investments that support the strategy, seeking constantly for new business opportunities for the sector;

  • Manages the price strategies in the product line sector, aiming to maximize margins in the region, while in alignment with global strategy;

  • Reports on segment results as well as the chemical market and other competitor information;

  • Maintains contacts with customers and other key stakeholders to increase the company’s participation in the market and/or solve problems directly related to business development. Able to balance customer and Cabot’s goals to meet annual operating objectives;

  • Leads commercial team to actively contribute, working closely with marketing functions, to the new product development and innovation agenda.

  • Ensures the continued development of his/her team by setting challenging performance objectives and clear, realistic individual development plans;

  • Participates in Global Business teams, aiming to define marketing strategies, prices and negotiations with the major customers;

  • Coordinates the common matters with the various businesses in the region.


Requirements, Conditions requises



  • Leadership and influencing skills. Ability to motivate, inspire and energize people and build strong teams;

  • Knowledge of sales & marketing principles. Strong knowledge of commercial excellence fundamentals and demonstrated ability to apply the principles in a business context;

  • Application of analytical thinking to identify causes of problems and identify potential solutions. Ability to be innovative and effective in identifying and driving new solutions;

  • Capable communicator with the ability to work collaboratively with others and negotiate with others;

  • Fluency in English. Fluency in other languages is a plus;

  • University degree in business-related field and/or technical areas (e.g. Chemical Engineering);

  • Minimum 10 years experience in specialty chemicals industry in commercial and leadership roles.
