The International School of Lausanne (ISL) is a leading non-profit, English language, International Baccalaureate (IB) World School set in the French speaking part of Switzerland. Bilingual (EN-FR) Holiday Camp Coordinator (50%)


From 1 March 2021 or earlier


The International School of Lausanne is launching a new multi-activity holiday camp programme. The camp programme will be aimed at children aged 3-11 from the ISL community, and children from the Lausanne area. These camps will be running during the day only.


The Holiday Camp Coordinator is responsible for organising and managing all aspects, of this holiday camp programme, whilst ensuring the safety and well-being of the children at all times. The Holiday Camp Coordinator will be responsible for hiring, motivating and supporting the camp staff in order to create a fun and exciting holiday camp atmosphere which promotes the participation of each children.


The Holiday Camp Coordinator is part of the After-School Activities team. The successful applicant will be hired at an annual rate of 50% but the working schedule may vary largely according to seasonal activity type.


Key responsibilities


Pre-Camp



  • Organise and plan camp sessions and activities, including preparation of thorough schedules and steps in close collaboration with After-School Activities and Marketing departement

  • Manage children registrations

  • Recruit, manage, and supervise camp staff in order to provide high quality, fun and safe programmes

  • Lead onsite induction training for staff ahead of camp start

  • Oversee the financial aspects of camps, including both revenue and expenses

  • Promote camps together with our Marketing department


During camp



  • Be the point of contact for parents, in person and on the phone, which includes greeting families and children upon arrival and orientate them for the day

  • Manage all administrative duties on camp, including assuring accuracy and review of attendance, parent/guardian sign-in sheets, and absence notes

  • Proactively manage parents’ expectations by knowing children, and conversing with parents at drop off and pick up times

  • Manage all health and safety aspects for children and staff, including risk assessments, emergency action plan

  • Manage any issues that may arise before, during or after camp

  • Be visible and participate in activities during the camps to provide a fun, safe and exciting experience for children

  • Oversee children supervision of the entire summer camp


Post camp



  • Collect feedback from parents and camp staff

  • Organise evaluation and feedback meeting with all camp staff

  • Suggest improvements for next camps


Desired profile



  • Bachelor degree or equivalent

  • A current first aid qualification, or the ability to aquire one before contract begins

  • A successful experience in leading camps or similar activities with children is a strong advantage

  • Ability to lead, and to provide clear directions and accountabilities to camp staff

  • Genuine passion for working with children and teenagers

  • Excellent organisational skills (a project management experience is an asset) combined with the ability to anticipate and adjust contingency plans

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a strong customer service orientation

  • Ability to interact and foster positive working relationships in a culturally diverse environment

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with mother tongue French (or at least C1) and fluent in English (at least C1) with very good listening skills; any other language is an asset

  • Team player with ability to work independently

  • Adaptability, flexibility, dynamism, and a sense of humor
