The clients served by BOBST are Packaging Converters we want to help by assessing new types of packaging production means across various industries (labels, flexible packaging, folding carton and corrugated)
To reinforce our team, we are looking for an Application Manager:
Main Responsibilities
Combining and/or bundling the different BOBST and/or third-party products and services you define solution/application for our customers. You assess content requirement up a business model – end-to-end – from PDF (packaging specification) to a so-called twin-PDF (showing quality and productivity reports throughout the production process) – incl. service offering
You implement an Industry/Application based strategy and translates it with Product Lines Product Managers into tactic-plans and actions including partnerships. Review of your proposal are done part of the product development plan
You set up and maintain an Application database (including market sizes, technologies, growth rates, etc.)
You contribute to “BOBST Connect” – our software platform to connect machines and stake holders - with Inputs regarding substrates, consumables, inks, adhesives, etc. and collaborates with Group R&D to build true end-to-end use cases
You analysis the competition and assess partnerships across all packaging production steps where we are not in in cooperation, alignment and agreement with Product Line Product Managers / Product Line Heads and R&D
You develop a tool to analyze with converters their Job-baskets and calculate the right technology mix and the Total Cost of Ownership for a specific application
You check your applications with selected Brand Owners to see the relevance and pain points
You contribute to the value proposition, USPs and product positioning of each considering final Applications and related product solution
You align your application strategy with the Product Lifecycle Management for the products in her/his industry
You create strategy and tactics of “How to win against competition” in the application you work on
You understand the market needs from our customers and the customers of our customers (Brand Owners) to have the right solutions in time
You cooperate with Business Development resources for new businesses / business models based on Applications
You deliver speeches in association and at events to promote your applications influencing the market trends and the brand owners
You ensure knowledge transfer and internal trainings towards sales teams
You develop solid differentiation & innovations that are new for converters and Brand Owners
You are “perceived” as technical/expert and trustworthy and not as commercial/sales to enable the customers and the brand owners to share more information in a collaborative manner
Professional & personal skills
Fitting to the BOBST Company Culture with the Values (Trust, Respect, Passion, Performance)
Minimum 10 years’ experience as Business Development, Application Manager, Product Manager, Technical Sales Manager at a Converter (Flexible Packaging, Labels, Folding Carton, Corrugated Board) or Packaging Expert / Specialist at Brand Owners or in the packaging industry
Able to set up TCO tools and Job Basket Analysis for End-To-End Application Approach considering multi technology processes and production realities in the packaging industry
Know-How in IOT and Industry 4.0 and understanding the trends and vision of Smart Manufacturing
Knowing all industry stakeholders from machine manufacturer, ink, adhesive and consumables suppliers
Knowing main production technologies and machines by heart (all printing technologies incl workflow management for digital printing and flexo, lamination, converting, metallizing, etc.)
Knowledge about Food Law, Sustainability, Recyclability trends and challenges, etc.
Used to exposure to Senior Management at BOBST, Converters and Brand Owners
Likes to work with Facts & Figures, KPIs and Data (Excel based)
Experience with working in international Teams in a Matrix Organization / Strong Team Player
Ready to start something from scratch – being part of the journey
Powerful and charismatic Speaker and Presenter and Trainer
Likes to travel 50% of the time
