EF Tours helps students gain new perspectives and build skills for the future through experiential learning. As an accredited institution, we partner with educators across the United States to create global travel programs that blend classroom, digital, and experiential learning for students.  

The Tours Engineering team is a hub of talented product managers, engineers, and creative professionals empowering EF to send groups of students and educators on guided educational tours across the world. We power every step of our customer’s journey – from showcasing our tour offerings, to creating personalized itineraries, and collecting their feedback after the tour.   

The VP of Engineering will manage all aspects of EF Tours engineering practice in Switzerland.This leader will help shape our overall technology strategy and offerings, create and manage processes and approaches that lead to high-quality digital products for our clients, and help guide our organization’s growth into new areas including the launch of SaaS-based offerings for our clients. We are looking for a proven leader that can influence both client conversations as well as internal discussions related to the delivery of innovative digital solutions.  

What You’ll Do 

• Manage and recruit world-class engineering talent 


• Guide engineering teams to improve and consistently deliver technology with an emphasis on the efficiency of small teams, and the quality of world class experience.  


• Ensure technical and career growth opportunities for team members 


• Direct and work with engineering and architecture teams to solve a class of problems highly technical in nature 


• Ensure the team makes sustainable technical and architectural decisions within the framework of the platform. 


• Work closely with internal business stakeholders to guaranteesuccess. 


• Build and foster the “faster, better” culture within the engineering organization. 


• Support engineering leaders and their teams, who are use technologies that includeMicro services, AWS best practices, Java, and Kotlin. 


• Ensure that we are building a scalable and reliable web architecture 


• Create coding best practices including being testable and maintainable 


• Build a manual and automated QA process 


• Provide guidance leadership that addresses security challenges for the modern world 

Who you are 

• You bring in 10+ years developing enterprise operations technology solutions 


• A provenrecord of accomplishments in designing and building scalable engineering teams 


• Highly proficient technical knowledge of current operations platforms and best practices at scale 


• A non-traditional, entrepreneurial mindset focused on business building and process improvement 


• You are personable, approachable, professional, and inclusive to your staff and colleagues 


• Have confidence in presenting solutions and discussing challenges with both technical and non-technical stakeholders 


• A strong familiarity and point of view with regulatory frameworks (financial services industry experience is a plus but not a requirement)
