As Department Manager Chemistry, you will be supporting the mission of the Nestlé Institute of Material Sciences, providing strategic direction and leadership for Science & Technology (S&T) areas in Food Chemistry (Carbohydrates, Lipids, Proteins, Micronutrients and Bioactives). In close collaboration with the other departments of the institute and also the rest of Nestlé Research you will enable scientific discoveries that enhance the nutritional impact and consumer appreciation of Nestlé's products and contribute to growth and profitability of our businesses. This includes the direction of research as well as the development and management of relevant competences and resources.

A day in the life of a Department Manager Food Chemistry

 


• Contribute to the definition and execution of the Institute of Material Sciences’ strategy and priorities. Provide guidance and priorities for research across Nestlé’s business-categories that is relevant to and fueling the category-specific S&T opportunities.
• Drive impactful scientific discoveries that are pursued in product development projects and ultimately enable the launch of new, consumer-appreciated products.
• Provide strategic direction in frame of the purpose/mission of the institute and be accountable for delivery. The research areas will be coordinated by the jobholder him/herself or through coaching of scientists.
• Build and develop key competencies and resources. Attract, retain and develop key people for the department and the R&D community. Ensure sustainability and availability of resources by developing robust succession plans throughout the R&D community. Align relevant competencies with the S&T community in our Nestlé Product Technology Centers.
• Create strategic alliances and collaborations. Maintain effective external networks. Secure access to top talents and expertise. Be an acknowledged credible voice.

• Experience in developing and executing strategies
• Demonstrated scientific leadership skills
• Academic / scientific background or expert knowledge in the area of Food Chemistry
