Inseriert am: 09.11.2020
The Ecole polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) is one of the most dynamic university campuses in Europe and ranks among the top 20 universities worldwide. The EPFL employs 6,000 people supporting the three main missions of the institutions: education, research and innovation. The EPFL campus offers an exceptional working environment at the heart of a community of 16,000 people, including over 10,000 students and 3,500 researchers from 120 different countries.
Postdoctoral research positions in experimental particle physics (EPFL)
Your mission :
The High Energy Physics Laboratory (LPHE, www.epfl.ch/labs/lphe/) of EPFL, the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne, invites applications for two postdoc positions to work on the LHCb experiment at CERN’s Large Hadron Collider. The lab, led by Prof. Olivier Schneider and Prof. Lesya Shchutska, is strongly involved in data analysis, as well as in the construction, commissioning and operation of the Scintillating Fibre (SciFi) Tracker and the PLUME luminometer for the current LHCb detector upgrade. It pursues R&D for further upgrades (Ib and II) of the LHCb tracker, for other particle physics experiments such as SND@LHC, for future astroparticle detectors in space and for medical dosimetry applications. Main duties and responsibilities include :
Our new colleagues are expected to join LHCb, to take leading roles in areas where our lab is already active, and help supervise students. Candidates particularly interesting to us would have a solid experience and strong interest in data analysis (especially in measurements of charm mixing and CP violation, and in searches for lepton-flavour-violating decays), detector operations, track reconstruction, design and performance studies of tracking detectors for LHCb upgrades, or SciFi and SiPM technology development. Your profile :
Applicants must hold a PhD degree in experimental particle physics, obtained preferably within the past 5 years, or expect to graduate before the start of employment.
Start date :
March 1st, 2020.
Term of employment :
Fixed-term (CDD)Duration :
One year, renewable up to a maximum of four years. Contact :
Applicants have to prepare a single PDF file with the following documents in this order: motivation letter, CV, list of publications with leading contributions, and contact information of at least three references. For full consideration, applicants should send their PDF file and ask the references to send their letters by e-mail to our secretariat (Corinne.Craman@epfl.ch) byDecember 6, 2020.
