Job Purpose, DIMENSION AND SCOPE


 


The Director of AFEMEA Logistics is responsible for improving customer service by achieving performance excellence in the logistics activities. His/her responsibility includes all warehousing, transportation, distribution, customs/duty compliance and flow of goods to our manufacturing sites and our customers. He/she is responsible for driving logistics tools and process harmonization across all the BUs and the Sites of AFEMEA.


 


He/she will lead the transformation of the Logistics organization and activities in AFEMEA. He/she will lead the Regional Logistics team that will be set up according to the SC organizational transformation blueprint.


 


He/she will report to the Senior SC Director of AFEMEA and be a member of the AFEMEA SC Leadership Team. He/she is expected to collaborate closely with the Manufacturing, Sales, & Procurement Teams.


 


Principal Accountabilities


 


Main Responsibilities



  • Create, implement and manage health and safety procedures in the logistics area

  • Develop a medium to long-term strategy that delivers a best-in-class logistics operation / solution

  • Strengthen customer service by improving logistics performance

  • Understand core competence scope in Logistics and outsource non-core activities

  • Optimize delivery times and transport costs

  • Manage logistics operations, both internal and external

  • Evaluate and understand leveraging and outsourcing opportunities

  • Monitor and evaluate logistics performance and plan improvements

  • Plan and implement logistics performance improvement plans

  • Present findings, ideas and improvement plans to senior leaders

  • Manage resources according to changing needs

  • Identify best practices and roll out across BUs/Plants

  • Lead continuous improvement activities

  • Monitor, report and analyse market/industry trends and collaborate with stakeholders to achieve best in market outcomes.

  • Monitor progress of ongoing improvement projects, tracking benefits realisation

  • Leverage the experience and expertise both internally and with our key logistics partners to accelerate the pace of change

  • Motivate and Manage Team

  • Identify, develop, and manage the Logistics SMEs in the AFEMEA network

  • Collaborate with various teams in cross-functional supply improvement projects

  • Prepare high quality, concise, and accurate Logistics reporting

  • Manage IT systems

Qualifications/Requirements


 



  1. Formal Qualifications and Experience



  • University degree in Business, Logistics, Science, or similar disciplines represented in SC

  • 15 years overall operational experience in Supply Chain, including 10 years in Logistics related appointments

  • Strong change management, analytical, and organizational skills

  • Fluent in English

  • Proven competency with information tools
