The Position
Roche pRED Oncology translates world-class science into medical innovation through a diversity of technologies and talents located across five research centers worldwide (Innovation Center Basel, Penzberg, Welwyn, New York, and Zurich).
We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Research Associate to join our cancer biology team focused on the discovery of novel anti-cancer agents.
You will be a member of the Molecular Targeted Therapy (MTT) group located at the Roche Innovation Center Basel working in a team of approximately 30 cancer biologists supported by Roche’s Small Molecule Research (SMR) and Pharmaceutical Sciences (PS) functions to evaluate candidate therapies in state-of-the art molecular, cellular and in vivo pharmacology laboratories.
You will be in charge of the development and the implementation of assays enabling the validation of new potential targets, and screening and characterization of small molecule inhibitors in human cancer cell lines.
Core tasks and responsibilities:
Maintenance of cell culture.
Design, plan and execute experiments in a timely manner, under the leadership of the assigned lab head.
Perform, optimize and analyze assay data using 96/384 well microtiter assay formats
Conduct multiple experimental approaches in parallel.
Share knowledge by enthusiastic collaboration with other scientists and associates within the group.
Keep accurate electronic records.

You are a motivated professional with great scientific, communication and organizational skills, fully committed to team effort
For this position, we expect the following qualifications:
Completion of an apprenticeship for a research associate (Roche apprenticeship program is a plus) or BSc in a life science discipline (e.g. cell biology, immunology)
2+ years of experience in a research lab.
Prior experience in the pharmaceutical industry would be a plus.
A strong background in cell culture is essential.
Proficient and hands-on experience in molecular and cell biology methods (RNAi, qRT-PCR, western blotting)
Experience in compound screening in cell-based assays (growth assays, Incucyte imaging)
Familiarity with standard lab equipment and IT tools is required.
Very good oral and written communication skills in English are required.
