Job Purpose
10 days, that is how long we treat a patient’s T-cells, before we return them to potentially save this patient’s live.
In Leading & managing Cell processing t functions, this role drives team objectives, direction & priorities and has as a member of the site leadership team significant impact on reaching our business goals with immediate patient impact.
The Production Unit (PU) Head provides leadership, strategies and guidance to the cell processing team to ensure execution of manufacturing plan in a compliant, efficient, and cost effective manner.
Major Accountabilities
• Full responsibility, ownership and accountability for the end-to-end process chain from receipt to final pack
• Creates environment of trust, assures clarity and open two-way communication, and fosters a speak-up mentality.
• Drives LEAN Innovation/Quality/Productivity (LEAN IQP) philosophy through the Process Unit, ensuring continuous improvement for the whole process.
• Ensures compliance with GMP/HSE regulations, Novartis policies, procedures and standards, and champions a Quality Culture.
• Sets performance targets of the Process Unit in line with business objectives and develops long-term plan for Process Unit/Site in line with NTO strategy.
• Builds/sustains strong network in and outside the organization (benchmarking).
• Ensures overall financial and business performance, costs, supply, quality and resource management (people, equipment, facilities, etc.).
• Member of the BC / NEM organizations as defined in the BC Plan and according to respective SOP.
• Integrates and aligns related site functions service providers (i.e. quality, site engineering).
• Ownership and control of the PU OPEX budget and CAPEX budget.
• Develops long term manufacturing strategy in alignment with the business platform
• Drives and supports the development of people within the Process Unit team.
• Full compliance with all statutory, regulatory, and NTO requirements

Minimum requirements
• Education: Master Level or PhD with proventechnical and operational background in the field
• Language: Fluent in speaking / writing in English , fluent in German/ willingness to learn how to speak German
• Experience: Minimum of 10 years’ experience in production operations, ideally in a Biopharmaceutical, pharmaceutical or chemical manufacturing environment. C&G Therapy Experience.
