OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME


The IVB Department's mission is ‘To promote the health and well-being of all people, in all countries, by advancing the impact of vaccines and immunization programmes through partnership and leadership; policies and guidance; evidence and research'. Our work is aligned with the WHO 13th Global Programme of Work (GPW13), with a central focus to drive impact in countries, to ensure healthy lives and promote well-being at all ages.The Strategic Objectives of the IVB Department include:1) Establishing global immunization agendas, strategies and policies to build and harness commitment to action.2) Promoting research and innovation to increase impact of vaccines, technologies and immunization practices.3) Advancing evidence-based introduction and access to vaccines and immunization innovations.4) Optimizing immunization delivery to ensure high-impact, sustainable and equitable programmes.5) Harnessing Vaccine Alliances and Partnerships, including collaborations with Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance and key WHO partners, towards cross-programme coordination and collaboration in pursuit of universal health coverage.


DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES


Contribute to the visualization of the immunization data (50%) - Produce standard and ad hoc outputs and visuals of the immunization data using power point, power BI and other visualization and mapping software.- Manage the development of private and public data portals. In partnership with vendors and stakeholders, support further development and enhancements of data portals including data visualization capacity.- Promote use of data portals and data visualization tools and foster inter-departmental, and cross-regional collaboration.Provide technical support in theannual immunization data collection exercise (30%). - Managing therevision of the questionnaire, by gathering and consolidating inputs from subjectmatter experts. - Design (includingcreation of complex validation rules) and testing of the questionnaire.- Managementof users and workflows within the app, and all other steps required by thesystem and development of standard operational procedures.- Providingsupport to Member States on the use of the application, and reviewing,analyzing and providing feedback to the Member States on the data reported.Contribute to the management of theannual immunization data(20%) - Transferdata form the data collection app to the internal data warehouse named WIISEMart), by maintaining and updating pipelines, using the xMart pipeline scripts,according to WHO data integrity policies. - Creatingand updating data and reference tables in respect of the WIISE Mart governanceand data model rules.- Perform AdHoc analysis upon request for the Global Monitoring Team and provide support tothe IAI team members involved in the WIISE project.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS


Education


Essential: First university degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Infectious Diseases, Health Policy, Bio Statistics or another related field.
Desirable: Advanced university degree (Masters level of above) in public health, Epidemiology or other related field.Additional training or certification in eJRF and Xmart applications.


 


Experience


Essential: At least five years' professional experience in project management, data management and graphic presentation of data.Good understanding of immunization programmes and experience in immunization data management and analysis.Experience in managing/updating web pages. Demonstrated exposure at the international level.
Desirable: Experience in the UN system or significant immunization partner organization.


 


 


Skills


- Knowledge of vaccine-preventable diseases and surveillance systems.- Advanced computer applications in particular MS Excel, Access and Geographic Information System Software.- Data input skills, demonstrated ability to use Excel or other software to enter, manipulate and analyze data, ability to use ArcView or any other mapping software to produce statistical thematic maps, experience in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access, etc.), WHO applications (Intranet and WebIt/Sitefinity), ability to work in multicultural environment.- Experience in managing data, data visualization including producing graphics.- Ability to work as a team member, and sensitivity to working in a multi-cultural environment.- Excellent oral communication skills.- Strong interpersonal, networking and diplomacy skills.- Conscientiousness with ability to take initiative and work independently.- Familiarity with the UN system, including knowledge of WHO country, regional and global functions. Knowledge of the eJRF and Xmart applications.

REMUNERATION


WHO salaries for staff in the Professional category are calculated in US dollars. The remuneration for the above position comprises an annual base salary starting at USD 60,962 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable), a variable post adjustment, which reflects the cost of living in a particular duty station, and currently amounts to USD 4471 per month for the duty station indicated above. Other benefits include 30 days of annual leave, allowances for dependent family members, home leave, and an education grant for dependent children.
