The Foundation for Research on Information Technologies in Society (IT’IS) is an independent non-profit research organization dedicated to improving and advancing the quality of people’s lives.

The Foundation is committed to the pursuit of advanced research in simulation methodologies and applications of physical, physiological, and biological processes to bridge the gap between bench and bedside in the emerging field of personalized medicine. To this aim, the Virtual Population team develops medical image-based high-resolution, computable whole-body anatomical models for dosimetric and biomedical applications. To expand our team, we are seeking a:

Scientific Assistant (50 – 100%)

Your tasks:

• identification and segmentation of individual organs and tissues in medical image data with in-house developed segmentation tools


• support with the creation of 3D anatomical models and their functionalization with in-house developed software tools


• support of the software development team with testing and improving new software tools for segmentation

You are:

• or have been a student of medicine or biology and have in-depth knowledge of anatomy and physiology, with knowledge of neuroanatomy particularly beneficial


• experienced with relevant software for segmentation and visualization of anatomical structures


• friendly, precise, and with good communication skills


• able to work both independently and as part of a team


• fluent in English, with working knowledge of German and/or any additional language an advantage but not required
