In our development department, power electronic converters and systems are created based on the latest semiconductor and control technology. In addition to the development of power electronic circuits, we also develop cooling, connection and component technologies, resulting in compact and competitive products. Your responsibilities



  • Dimensioning, development and simulation of new power converters and power converter families for railway applications

  • Development of basic building blocks (inverter stages and basic functions) for the globally used ABB traction products using high power semiconductors (IGBT/MOSFET)

  • Close interdisciplinary cooperation with PCBA designers and mechanical / software engineers in definition and realization of the systems

  • Specification of components and clarification of technical questions with suppliers

  • Support in the further development of internal calculation and development tools.

  • Planning and execution of development trials and type tests


Your background



  • University degree in electrical engineering with focus on power electronics (M.S. ETH/University, B.S. University of Applied Sciences)

  • Experience in the development and dimensioning of power converters desirable

  • Knowledge of measurement technology and the structure of test arrangements

  • Familiarity with modern simulation tools (MATLAB/Simulink, Plecs, etc.)

  • Enthusiasm for power electronics and new product development and improvement

  • Creativity and quick comprehension, as well as independent, structured and proactive working style

  • Good knowledge of German and English
