Job Description

The Visiting Fellow will work to integrate social, cultural and environmental aspects in the Center’s design and development process, to improve the physical appearance, functionality and manufacturability of engineering prototypes. The experience will provide the individual with the opportunity to design, create and test components of state-of-the-art medical products, as well as to interact with an interdisciplinary team of scientists, engineers and clinicians. The Visiting Fellow will also work with end users to assess how user experience is enhanced through specific designs or approaches. 

Required profile

Required competence and experience:

• MS or PhD in Industrial Design, Engineering or related discipline; faculty are welcome


• Experience in all phases of industrial design such as interacting with users to determine requirements, sketching out ideas or creation of renderings on paper or computer, creation of physical prototypes, and evaluation of design aspects such as materials, manufacturing, safety, appearance and function


• Experience with drawing, computer-aided design and drafting (CADD) and 3D modeling 


• Passionate about user centered design processes 


• Experience in wearable systems would be a plus


• Previous practical experience in designing and building devices would be a plus


• Experience with usability tests would be a plus


• Aptitude for innovation, passion for quality 


• Results oriented, with urgency and drive


• Good communication and presentation skills


• Fluent in English; French a plus
