Your mission :

The aim of the EPFL Blue Brain Project, a Swiss brain research initiative founded and directed by Professor Henry Markram, is to establish simulation neuroscience as a complementary approach alongside experimental, theoretical and clinical neuroscience to understanding the brain, by building the world’s first biologically detailed digital reconstructions and simulations of the mouse brain. Within the Neuromathematics group in the Cells section we are looking for a Scientific Software Developer (W/M).Main duties and responsibilities include :



  • Support the on-going large-scale neuron modeling by providing technical support for the several in-house tools related to neuronal morphologies

  • Develop code to extend further the functionality of morphological analysis tools and pipelines for linking the different software together.

  • The position acts as a bridge between the scientists and the more technical aspects of our toolchain, and as such it involves getting familiar with the scientific domain the project is working in

Your profile :

Requirements



  • Expert in scientific computing (python, scipy, numpy, Linux, etc.)

  • Strong team player and fluent English in speech and writing

  • Experience in software development (unit testing, continuous integration, version control, debugging and documentation)

  • Experience in neuroscience or in another biomedical field

  • Experience in statistical methods

Preferred skills



  • Experience in other programming languages (C++), parallel computing and software development

  • Experience using high performance computing hardware and software

  • Experience in physics simulations and stochastic / dynamical systems modeling

  • Experience in machine learning
