BASEL OFFICE - Director Tax


PURPOSE OF POSITION



Due to the growth of both our Ocean and our River fleet, we are looking for an additional team member in our Finance team.
The Director Tax is responsible for the Company’s direct and indirect tax compliance, tax planning and accounting for income taxes. The successful candidate will work with businesses, service providers, and other tax professionals in carrying out his or her responsibilities. He or she will work with financial management within the Company and third party service providers.
This role is based in our Head Office in Basel, Switzerland. Please note that we can only accept applicants who are eligible to work in Switzerland or in possession of a valid work permit.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES


 


• Responsible for completion of direct and indirect tax provisions/returns including all related analysis and support


• Responsible for compliance in Intrastat reporting


• Manager implementations of tax planning projects


• Oversight of the tax returns/declarations for the Company’s international subsidiaries


• Responsible for various income and VAT tax audits in jurisdictions the company operates (Switzerland, Germany, France, Portugal, Netherlands, Hungary, etc.)


• Responsible for accounting for income taxes (IAS 12) in the subsidiaries located in Europe and Russia


• Responsible for VAT registations in jurisdictions the company will be operating


• Coordination of accounting for income taxes for international subsidiaries with third party vendors


• Responsible for transfer pricing and management fee arrangements


• Monitor company's transfer pricing policies and related documentation


• Supervise staff of three


• Liaise with his/her counterpart in the US for tax analyses in various countries Ocean vessels sail


• Responsible for maintaining country-by-country reporting requirements in Europe according to BEPS Action 13


• Liaise with operating management on tax issues and accounting staff on tax accounting issues


• Ensuring that appropriate internal controls are in place over accounting for income taxes


• Departmental liaison with IT staff on all technical matters relating to tax applications


• Assisting the VP European Controller with tax planning issues as required


• Assist the VP European Controller in estimating and monitoring annual cash taxes


• Monitor legislative changes in foreign tax laws that may impact the Company's tax positions, including tax accounting implications


• Manage outside tax consultatns and advisors


• Provide assistance in quarterly and annual audits


 


QUALIFICATION PROFILE


 


• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Taxes; Master’s Degree in Business Taxation preferred


• JD and/or CPA or equivalent preferred


• Ten years of related experience with multinational corporations


• Big Four accounting firm experience preferred


• Experience with ERP systems


• Must have a demonstrated hands-on approach and success in working in a team-based environment


• Experience with cruise and/or hospitality industry


• Excellent English and German skills are a must (written and verbal)


• French would be a plus


• Detail-oriented and highly organized


• Ability to meet assigned deadlines
