The Center for Fish and Wildlife Health, Department for Infectious Diseases and Pathobiology, Vetsuisse Faculty, offers this position from April 1, 2021 or earlier/later upon agreement.
The Centre for Fish and Wildlife Health (FIWI) is an institute at the Veterinary Faculty, University of Bern. Work at the FIWI entails research on basic and applied questions in fish and wildlife health, as well as the provision of accredited diagnostic services for private customers, local administration and federal agencies. Diagnostics at the FIWI is part of national monitoring and surveillance programmes in Switzerland.
TasksThe principal task of the position is diagnostic pathology. This entails the maintenance and continued development of high-quality diagnostics (necropsy, documentation, molecular diagnostics, collaboration with other diagnostic units in house, reporting, development/maintenance of processes and accreditation standards) of the entire spectrum of endemic free-ranging animals except fish and crayfish, as well as farmed deer. The position also entails teaching and supervision of postgraduate veterinary students and assistants.
